Zam Zam Restaurant

I ordered the take away - mutton murtabak, chicken murtabak and some plain prata. The food was tasty but the mutton murtabak was pre made and just heated up and the plain prata too . It wasn’t fresh. The chicken murtabak was better .overall I was disappointed because I live overseas and came to Singapore to visit my family and I drove by just to buy Zam Zam and I wished that they will have made more effort to make everything fresh instead of pre heating it. Sadly, They have lost a valuable customer and I doubt I will be coming back and I’m confident my review will be read by many and i hope this would be an indication to prepare the food fresh. Other than that , the staff were very friendly and helpful and even gave me extra curry on request.

It’s been more than a decade since my last visit here 😮‍💨⏳ and wow… the food really brought back memories ✨ Every dish we ordered was Jin Ho Jiak and close to perfection 🤤🔥💯The flavours, cooking and overall quality were really impressive 👍 Only the kambing soup 🥣🐑 — personally, I still prefer Bahrakath Mutton Soup 😅 Prices were also reasonable and affordable 💰👌 which made the meal even more satisfying 😋🙌 Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience and definitely a place I’ll come back to again

Take away one pack of chicken briyani for $9. The chicken portion was average, but the rice was very nice and flavourful we really loved the rice. The curry was just average too. Will probably try their mutton briyani next time. I’m giving 3 stars because the cucumber was spoilt. The sour smell was very strong. Luckily, the cucumber was packed separately, so it didn’t affect the briyani. Need improvement on that. Overall still ok 👍

Just ate here again after maybe over 15 years and their mutton murtabak and curry (comes together) still taste the same as it used to ☺️ The $12 portion is perfectly filling for 2 average eaters to share. Still very delicious and comforting; it’s layers are filled with a great amount of minced onions and minced mutton and the top outer layer has lots of minced mutton that has been cooked till parts of them are crispy. Still doesn’t feel oily. My only suggestion to make this meal perfect would be to cut the cucumbers thicker so that it adds the crunchy and refreshing element to the meal. A well-known and well-liked spot amongst locals, especially the Malay community, and a must-try local spot for anyone visiting Singapore. It’s busy most times, the ground-level looks humble and it’s kind of nice that they kept it that way; I’d rather the money go to paying their staff well and getting in good ingredients and maintaining the place. The upper level is made to look more like a restaurant and is air-conditioned but still has a casual atmosphere as there are lots of simple tables and chairs and you a range of groups of families or friends, to couples and individuals dining. Depending on where you’re seated and how okay you are with densely packed dining places, you might feel a bit cramped. It can get too loud if a large group with a lot of kids are present too. It is truly a casual spot and a good place to sit and eat and experience a bit of Singapore.

Singapore Zam Zam Restaurant is a long-standing Muslim Indian institution housed in a colourful 1908 shophouse, and it lives up to its reputation. I visited on a Friday and tried their mutton biryani special (and a side order of their stir-fried vegetable for the day). The biryani was fragrant, well-spiced, and genuinely delicious—the rice and mutton were both cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Despite the place being packed, service was efficient and attentive, with staff handling the crowd smoothly. A classic spot worth visiting, especially if you are there on a Friday for the mutton biryani.

Around 850 PM on 20 December, my father bought 2 medium murtabaks (chicken and beef) and some other things for takeaway which cost total of $37+. After my father ordered, not just 5 minutes after, they had prepared all the items which was unusually fast. My father asked, and the cashier said they prepared the Murtabak in advance. THIS indicated that the murtabak was NOT done freshly and had been left for who knows how long. And to our dismay, when we reached home and was ready to eat the murtabak, specifically the beef murtabak, it was stale and spoiled. we are VERY disappointed with this.

Located at the main road, you can order and pickup from the roadside in advance. There are 2 floors, with the upper one aircon. It was recommended when we had a tour near this area. Ordered Deer meat mutabak and tulang merah to eat in and take away their famous fish head curry. The roti is crispy since it is freshly made but the mince deer meat very dry. Tulang merah is done well with the meat easily peeled off from the bone. Also the tulang merah(translated red blood in bone) can be easily sip with a straw. The packed fish head curry was told it can only feed 2-3 pax so we bought 2 since we have 6 pax to feed. It was disappointing as we ate the sand feeling in our mouth from the fish stomach area. Thus the cleaning was not done properly. 6 pax managed to finished only one portion and that we don’t have other additional ingredients. So buying 2 was way too much. Overall, food was disappointing due to the high expectations and hype for this shop.

The food is rather decent but severely overpriced - really a tourist trap. One chicken leg is $7!! Omg We were initially asked to sit downstairs beside the road but it was hot, so we requested upstairs aircon, which was empty!! On a Sunday afternoon. Service staff IS TERRIBLE! They look discriminating when we shared that we didn’t know Maggi goreng red has mutton taste and we really really can’t take it. Almost refused to change until we said we were allergic to it. We asked for chilli, they gave us chopped chilli but guess what Charged us $1 for 2 portions without letting us know beforehand. Drinks were good, but really, the service so bad, I won’t go again
