Jiak Ba Food Heaven (J8)

I really enjoyed the food at Jiak Ba Food Heaven. They offer a decent variety of authentic Taiwanese food and desserts. I highly recommend the set meals that come with a side and some cabbage, with four choices of mains to choose from: Braised Pork Rice, Chiayi Shredded Chicken Rice, Oyster Mee Sua and Stir-Fried Rice Vermicelli. Their fried chicken leg is a must-order, the batter was thin and crispy! Do try their soy milk as well, it was silky smooth and not too sweet. One downside is the cramped eating space as half of the shop space was dedicated to their kitchen.

The food was actually really good, especially the braised pork rice with grilled chicken on the side. The braised pork was flavourful and went really well with the rice, while the grilled chicken was a great addition to the meal. Definitely an enjoyable and satisfying combination. The drink was okay but could be better—it didn’t quite stand out compared to the food. Overall, a nice place for Taiwanese food, and I’d be happy to come back and try some of the other dishes. ⭐ Overall: 3.9/5

Ordered set meal mee sua and braised pork chop, comes with small side vege. Cost $15.04. Mee sua: great Pork chop: great Vege: average Amount for money: poor Mee sua has a herbaliciousness to it. Comes with two oyster which are fresh enough. Pepper, garlic and chili sauce were already added. Not too overwhelming so it makes the taste complex in a nice way. Pork chop is not really braised right? It is fried! But it was tasty, tough to cut but more tender than expected since it was tough to cut. Reasonably size. Definitely one of the highlight. Vege is mixed vege rather average like those you can get for $1 in cai png stall. No wok hey or anything. Amount was kinda little for $15. Not filling at all.

It was crowded n tight on space on a Thursday night at the J8 outlet. I ordered the much-raved-about Signature Mee Sua. Pretty good, especially the intestine : flavourful with no weird taste. It would have been better if the chilli sauce was served on the side, as spice levels are pretty subjective. The app showed the winter melon drink was sold out (but it actually wasn’t), so I ordered the honey lemon instead. Pretty good not too sweet and refreshing. Oh the app also didn’t work n we had to order at the counter instead. My daughter had the beef noodles and felt the broth was too bland. She’s a seasoned traveller to Taiwan, so I trust her verdict. I tried a piece of the braised beef and found it tender and flavourful. My son-in-law ordered the bee hoon, which was our favourite. We loved the tangy flavour and freshly stir-fried taste. Rue chicken cutlet was authentically Taiwanese which reminded us of the night market feels! The side dishes were good too. The only downside was that the portions were rather small.

3 Aug 26: Mee sua with shreded chicken 👍 Braised pork rice with chicken cutlet 👍 Dessert not bad lah - just thay the mini pearls were so hard. When ordering on the website, pls take note when paying. There was a pop up asking if you want to round up the payment. Many might miss this if you didn't see it properly and just press the incorrect button. Why not round down instead?

Located at Bishan Junction 8. The fried chicken taste great in authentic Taiwanese style. I like the mee sua, texture is good ,the gravy is smooth the oyster is fresh. I ordered the spicy one and it tasted good. The vegetbale side dish is made of cabbage cooked with mushroom and has a home made feel to it. The service is welcoming and friendly, I was greeted with a warm and crisp Taiwanese accent and recommendation of the dishes and payment method. My only comment for consideration on improvement would be the mee sua, it's a little small portion compared to the chicken. Perhaps the local take in more carbohydrate during main meals. As for the Chicken cutlet, suggestion to cut into smaller piece for ease of grip with chop stick. Overall it is a good dining experience. 11 Jun- Mee Hoon set

I recommend their braised chicken. It's surprisingly soft and tender. The food portions are also just nice. The waiter was also kind enough to patiently explain to us the menu. Overall a great dining experience.

Very authentic Taiwan flavour! The fried oyster mushrooms are well fried and seasoned. The Milk tea is really smooth and very nice Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻
