Genki Sushi

Compared with another famous sushi chain , I actually preferred the rice at Genki Sushi. That said, the overall dining experience was unfortunately far behind. The biggest problem was the operation. We waited around 20 minutes for tea, and our first food order took more than 15 minutes to arrive. For this type of casual, quick-service sushi restaurant, that felt unusually slow. We ordered udon for our child together with children’s cutlery, but only a spoon was provided. When I asked for a fork, the response felt quite unfriendly. I was told there were none available and that one would be brought after the washing was finished. We then waited quite some time again. The food itself didn’t help. Several items gave the impression of being prepared directly from frozen products with very little attention to the final quality, and eventually I simply lost interest in continuing the meal. Even more surprisingly, several dishes from our QR-code order never arrived. When I mentioned the missing items while paying, there was no apology or explanation—I was simply told they would be removed from the bill. And after all of that, the final price was higher than what I would normally spend at another famous sushi chain. This experience actually made me appreciate how well thought-out another famous sushi chain overall operation is. At this price point, it isn’t only about the sushi. Speed, consistency, convenience, and service are all part of what makes this type of restaurant work. The rice at Genki may have been better, but unfortunately, that alone isn’t enough to give me a reason to return.

The manager at Genki Sushi i12 Katong really stood out for being attentive and easy to talk to. I also noticed things seemed to run more smoothly when he was around, especially with managing the queue. It made the whole visit feel much more organised and pleasant, and I appreciated the warm hospitality.

Lousy service, called my number at 1030hrs before the store open, when I realised they called other number instead of mine when the store open, I approached the staff, she saids you just wait for your turn. When I showed her the message, she never even apologised, just bring me to table straight away. The lousy service standard I encountered in this outlet.

I had an exceptional dining experience at Genki Sushi i12 Katong! 🍣 The food was absolutely delicious and satisfying. 😋 I highly recommend this place for a wonderful meal. ✨

Worst outlet experience by far. If you’re looking for a job, perhaps consider coming here for an interview because apparently they are “short-staffed,” despite having staff walking around while customers are left waiting. If you’re looking to wait an hour just for a table during a non-peak period, this is also the perfect place for you. Being short-staffed is understandable. What is not understandable is using “short-staffed” as an explanation when there seems to be no urgency, poor coordination, and customers are simply expected to accept an excessive waiting time. A one-hour wait during a busy dinner rush is one thing. A one-hour wait when it isn’t even peak period suggests that the problem goes beyond manpower so it points to poor operational management. Perhaps instead of repeatedly telling customers that the outlet is short-staffed, management should actually address the staffing and operational issues. Extremely disappointing. If this outlet cannot cope with customers during a non-peak period, I can only imagine what happens when it is actually busy.

The service was non-existent. When I approached a staff member to request a refill of my green tea, they came over to pour it only reluctantly. Argggh :(

Overall was good but however will hope to have the small takoyaki instead of the large one. It is always not cooked and not nice.

The portion size was very small , even smaller than the sushi restaurant next door l, Not worth it now .
