Bowen's Western @bowenscafesg, a spot known for hearty Western plates and really generous portions. Their Wild Mushroom Soup is thick, earthy and super comforting — exactly what you want to start a meal with. The Bacon & Mushroom Cream Spaghetti is rich and savoury, with that creamy sauce coating every strand nicely. If you like something slightly tangy, the Salmon in Pink Sauce Spaghetti brings a nice balance of creaminess with a light tomato touch. And the Signature Salmon Trout Fillet is buttery, flaky and satisfying, especially when paired with their homemade mashed potato, which is extra smooth and comforting.

Loved their food and service! Would definitely come back again! The staff was so kind and generous, offering us 1 for 1 orange juice and even free cabbages and potatoes just because they wouldn’t want it to go to waste 🥹 And from the food served to us you can tell that it’s quality food!! The bolognese pasta tasted so good and I could immediately taste that it’s handmade! We bought beef as well and I loved the red wine sauce and it was also served with the rosemary and garlic the beef was cooked with (which other restaurants usually throw it away) and their mash potato is so good too!!! Can’t wait to try the other items in their menu next time!

Update 20 Feb: staff reached out a couple of days later about this incident. Do check their Instagram reel regarding the additional charges. ----- Original post on 15 Feb: Good food and great atmosphere ruined by poor customer service (effectively 19.90% CNY surcharge, read more below in a 10-part breakdown). (1) Apparently there was a 10% CNY surcharge on 15 February, which was not communicated to us - when we sat down - also not when the staff took our order - also not when I offered to pay before the food arrived (we thought it was good service until I saw the bill after eating). (2) Staff was busy recommending the special pork chop without sharing price (see other Google reviews on $36 pork chop). Sure, we are willing to pay a 10% surcharge to support local F&B if this will help them during CNY. - Note this happened 2 days before CNY (most businesses only added surcharge 1 day before CNY) (3) The issue was GST being separately charged again despite menu price being inclusive of GST. Shop staff (male, aged 20-40?) explained that this was because of how CNY surcharge impacted their computer system billing function. Otherwise during regular times the menu price is indeed inclusive of GST. (4) When staff was asked if they had double charged GST (since menu price included GST, see image of receipt and menu), they clarified that they did not double charge GST. 🤷🏻‍♂️ - so I guess the shop increased menu price by 9% during CNY and then charge another 10% CNY surcharge on top of the price increment? - Effectively a 19.90% CNY surcharge.😮‍💨 - See attached image from Excel for calculations (feel free to correct if I am wrong). (5) At this point I guessed the staff would not admit to any shady business practices and we wanted to go home. - While the shop was listed as open on Grab Dine Out page, their staff did not accept that payment mode due to it "being CNY period" (again, 2 days before CNY. Am I the only one who thinks that it is absurd for local F&B to start CNY period 2 days before CNY when most other F&B merchants typically start 1 day before?) - since the shop only accepted cash or PayNow or CDC voucher as alternative payment modes, we just paid with CDC voucher. (6) Before leaving, I told the shop that we would escalate the matter, which we will do so since the bill was effectively paid using the government's money (CDC voucher). - I am rather sure they will not refund me later even if I paid cash, so why use my own money? Just get the government involved to investigate this incident which was paid with the government's money. (7) While eating, we saw someone giving a cash tip to the shop. We wondered if the customer knew that the business is charging more than they claimed. (8) As we were leaving, I asked another lady who was about to pay if she knew that GST was separately charged instead of being priced in (as stated on menu). - She said she didn't know. We hoped that she would find out before she actually paid. (9) After leaving, I saw a receipt from a previous Google review in July'25 which showed that the system was capable of showing "inclusive of GST" charge. - At this point, I thought, did the shop lie about their computer system error? (10) No wonder the shop did not allow us to pay first immediately after we ordered. - Such a shame as the vibes were good and the food was decent and it was our first visit to the shop. - We actually intended to return again to try other items on their menu but their staff behaviours made us seriously reconsider this idea.

We had a great dining experience at Bowen’s Western. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and well-prepared. We especially enjoyed the pork chop. The portions were generous, and the presentation was neat. Their sides and sauces also complemented the dishes really well. This is highly recommended by the staff and not in their menu list. My little one enjoyed the carbonara. As for the place itself, it had a cozy and welcoming vibe. Clean, nicely decorated, and perfect whether you’re dining with family or meeting friends. They have also their own toilet that is clean and neat.

Food wasn't that bad, but was shocked by the bill, the pork chop the order taker recommended(off the menu without price tag) turn out to be $36/-, the more pricey steak was only $28... Will be nice if they will inform us rather than to keep recommending n keep the $36 price tag to themselves. Honestly not happy but Its was our bad, we didn't ask. Paid up n shut up n left. OMG tis is not new on the review, 2 other review 2months ago also compliant of the $36 pork chop, yet they are still doing it after 2months. Same old trick

This is an empty plate of their signature fried rice. Why? Because it's so good that I finished every grain of rice and the sambal belachan. Been here many times, food quality never disappoint. Service is excellent. Paired with freshly prepared turmeric drink. The sambal squid is equally delicious. Perfectly cook and well balanced sambal.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bowen for the first time, and I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the food! The chicken chop was outstanding, and the salmon paired with mashed potatoes was simply delightful. The staff were incredibly attentive and courteous, demonstrating a deep knowledge of the menu. Bowen truly is a hidden gem!

The chef has perfected the cream spaghetti / carbonara. Best carbonara I have ever had in awhile. The portion is huge but I ate it all up despite being a small eater. The texture of the cream sauce is just nice, not too watery and not too sticky; the black mushrooms and German pork sausage slices are plentiful. I enjoyed it a lot and will definitely return again. The folks who run the eatery are always friendly.
