$5 Western

The service of the Vietnamese woman is easily the worst I have encountered of all the $5 Western stalls I visit. She is by far the laziest and stingiest. 1. At 7.08pm on 30 May, I was told Chicken Cutlet was sold out and told to take Chicken Chop instead. Despite remaining open for another 2 hours, it's too much hassle to bread some chicken and prepare them. 2. At 7.35pm on 9 June, I was told rice was sold out. However, another Malay staff checked the rice cooker and contradicted the Vietnamese's account of rice being sold out. Unsurprisingly when I collected my food, another lady collecting hers was shocked to discover her rice had been replaced with baked beans without being told. 3. On 10 June, I requested for some tissue. The Vietnamese boldly claimed not to have any and when I pointed to the packets of tissue, she then said it was for "the stall". Normally, other staff are not calculative in happily offering tissue when asked. Mind, other western food stalls even wrap their cutlery with napkins (NOT tissue). How much more stingy can this Vietnamese be. The stall owner would do well to review the above issues (receipts attached with timestamps - check your POS to verify my account no chicken cutlet was sold after of 7.08pm on 30 May) and see if this lazy and stingy Vietnamese staff should be sent for re-education. It should be noted all these issues persistently happen when the Vietnamese woman is taking the order. Coincidence? Hardly.

Frankly, I am amazed by their serving. When I saw everything $5, I expected a smaller portion but no, they did not cut back on anything. They are on point on almost everything. Even their service was prompt and friendly. Stall looked clean and tidy too. Halal certified as well. Super popular as I see never ending crowd when consuming the meal. Of course you can't compare with top notch restaurant or cafes but comparing with fellow hawker western stalls, apple to apple, I must say it's a steal. Do try them out when in the vicinity!

$5 Western? That certainly sounds like a deal, especially nowadays when a decent plate of Western food at a hawker centre easily costs $7 to $8 or more. Curious about the value, we decided to check out this Halal-certified Western food stall in Clementi, where orders can conveniently be placed via a self-service kiosk. It definitely caught our attention as an affordable option in today’s rising food price scene. The execution of the Chicken Chop was definitely to my liking. It came as a complete plate with coleslaw, fries, and a buttered bun, alongside the main slab of chicken chop. Despite its very attractive $5 price tag, both the taste and portion were not compromised. The chicken chop itself was well cooked, with nicely charred edges that added a slight smokiness. Topped with herbs and a savoury sauce, it elevated the overall fragrance and made the dish feel far more value-for-money than expected. Overall, this $5 Western stall in Clementi turned out to be a pleasant and value-for-money find. In today’s rising price climate, it is rare to find a plate that delivers both satisfying portion and taste without cutting corners. The chicken chop was well executed, and it certainly proved that affordable Western food can still be enjoyable. With several other items on their menu at equally attractive prices, I will definitely be back again to try more of their offerings.

The portion for chicken cutlet with pasta was quite generous. I am quite surprised that this western stall consider one of the valuable and affordable stall. The stall describes everything that most dishes sells only this rate. Operation hours was relatively decent for me to head there after ending my work late to order this. Overall, the dish is tasty and definitely will come back again to try on grilled fish set meals.

I’m not a fan of aglio olio in general because I’m always too scared of it being oily, but this one pleasantly surprised me! Not too oily, really fragrant and I’m thankful for the option to have it less spicy. Grilled fish was well seasoned & served piping hot, and onion rings were really good too! Ordering was made seamless with the 2 touchscreen POS stations, although it would’ve been even better if they accepted credit cards too (only paynow at the moment). Only downside was that the food took 15mins to be ready, so don’t order from them if you’re in a rush :) Otherwise a really affordable meal- will be back when I’m around the area again ☺️

$5 western is definitely a steal. Portion is okay. However, it could be better. Would suggest they upgrade their chili and mayo sauces. This chili they serve doesn’t spice up their food. Very clean coffee shop.

Newly renovated coffeeshop with new open western food stall. So give it a try. Ordered their chicken chop. Ingredients are fresh. Chicken chop are well cooked and texture are good. And the sauce is nice. Fries are well fried, golden and crispy texture. Comes with a bun. Salad are well mixed and prepared. $5 for such potion is reasonable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth eating.

fried fish is decent, chicken chop is good with the sauce, however the Aglio e Olio pasta sauce is getting less and just looks more plain than before.
