Dropped by Prairie by Craftsmen two days ago and honestly had such a good time. The service was top-notch — the staff were friendly, attentive and made the whole place feel welcoming without being overbearing. The atmosphere was immaculate too: cosy, bright and chill, making it the perfect spot to unwind over a meal and coffee. The truffle fries absolutely slapped — crispy, fragrant and generously coated with truffle flavour without being overpowering. Definitely one of those dishes that disappear way too quickly once they hit the table. Overall, a really solid experience and I'll definitely be coming back again soon.

If you’re looking for a cosy café in the Katong–Joo Chiat area, Prairie by Craftsmen is worth checking out! The café has a beautiful ocean-blue theme and seats around 40, with both an air-conditioned indoor dining area and a pet-friendly alfresco space, making it a great brunch spot whether you’re catching up with friends or bringing your furry companion along. House-made Rosti & Sausage ($22++) This was probably the most generous portion of the meal! The rosti was beautifully crispy on the outside while remaining fluffy inside. It paired really well with the light, tangy sour cream, which helped to balance the richness. The pork bratwurst was thick, juicy and satisfying, and they kindly allowed us to swap the sunny side up for scrambled eggs. The scrambled eggs came as a huge slab and were creamy and runny just the way I like them. Teriyaki Chicken Sando ($18++) The shokupan was incredibly soft and fluffy, lightly toasted to give it a crisp exterior without being overly dry. Inside was a thick piece of tender, well-marinated teriyaki chicken that was juicy and packed with flavour. The generous amount of chopped cabbage added a refreshing crunch, while the karashi mayo brought everything together nicely. It was surprisingly filling and is probably best shared unless you’re really hungry! This was one of the choice of main for the $20++ lunch set. Umami Prawn Kombu Pasta ($24++) As someone who loves kombu pasta, I came in with high expectations. While the tiger prawns were large, fresh and perfectly cooked, the sauce wasn’t quite what I expected. It was much more watery, almost like a light gravy, and I personally would have preferred it to be thicker and creamier with a stronger umami depth. It reminded me more of a dry ban mian tossed in soy sauce than the rich kombu pasta I had in mind. It was still savoury, but I felt the flavour could have been bolder. The portion also felt slightly small for the price. Iced Latte We had this as part of the lunch set. Made with 100% Arabica beans from Craftsmen Specialty Coffee and served as a double ristretto, it was smooth, balanced and easy to drink without being overly bitter. Overall, the food was enjoyable across the board, with generous portions and good quality ingredients, although there wasn’t a standout dish that would make me immediately return just for it. Prices are on the higher side, but the Lunch Set from $20++ offers pretty decent value if you’re looking for a relaxed café lunch in Joo Chiat. Definitely a lovely space to unwind, especially if you’re looking for a pet-friendly café in the East! Also pictured are my Smoked Salmon Bagel and my friend’s Salmon Mentaiko Donburi from our visit in October 2022.

The atmosphere was warm, comfortable and inviting, making it a pleasant place to relax over a meal. The café had a calm and welcoming ambience, and the service was equally good. The staff were polite, attentive and efficient throughout my visit, which made the entire dining experience feel smooth and enjoyable. For lunch, I ordered the Umami Prawn Pasta together with a latte, and both were satisfying. The pasta was flavourful, well prepared and nicely balanced, while the prawns added a rich and savoury taste to the dish. The latte was smooth, aromatic and a lovely accompaniment to the meal. Overall, I had a positive experience with the food, drinks, atmosphere and service. I would gladly return to Prairie by Craftsmen again.

The food was absolutely sublime. We ordered the classic Avacado toast, fries and waffles . The buttermilk waffles were perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. There was little waiting time and the staff were very friendly. All the food was freshly cooked and I definitely recommend coming here. The price of the food was better than Little Farms next door for an even better ezperience. This won't be my last time coming here.

The cafe would be a cozier place ,if the spectacle service crew could stop talking. Or at least chat discreetly, instead of blasting his relationship advices to his poor team members. Start pay attention to the needs of your customers. I wasn't even offered water or being enquired about my orders, leaving at my own peril to figure out order etc. Only perk is free wifi. The guy who yap non stop is really a big turn off in this nice cafe, what a shame..

Tucked away in one of Singapore's most iconic districts in Joo Chiat, Prairie is a cosy haunt for those who love honest to goodness cakes 🎂 and coffees ☕️. Ben, who is the batista, exudes a friendly presence, add in the music, and you have got yourself a place to rest and relax.

Quite spacious and chilled environment for a cafe in Katong. Much better service and considerate staffs in comparison to their competitor opposite the road. Food is sizeable and tasty. First visit but won’t be the last.

Consistently average. The PRAIRIE by Craftsmen and Craftsmen Coffee cafés do well at creating a nice ambience, but the food and drinks rarely live up to it. Despite their specialty coffee reputation, the espresso often tastes over-extracted, overly bitter and astringent/"siap" (not acidic, my bad). I tried the teriyaki chicken donburi today with sautéed mushrooms and topped up a dollar for “roasted” broccoli that turned out to be boiled. The complimentary water came with a live ant which I scooped out and ignored, but I later found a dead fly in my iced oat latte. That made me wonder if there might be some sort of infestation. Left regretting the meal. Service was alright but with many options in the area, I would not return.
