Ah Heng Duck Rice (同济前阿兴鸭饭) is a Michelin recommended hawker stall located at Hong Lim Market & Food Centre. Ah Heng Duck Rice and Heng Gi Goose & Duck Rice at Tekka Centre are sibling stalls that share the same roots, as both trace their heritage back to the same master. I ordered a small duck rice with added duck gizzard & braised egg, priced at S$4.50, S$1.00 & S$0.70 respectively. The duck meat is sliced thin & naturally leaner, so it may taste a little tough if you prefer a juicier & more tender texture. The gizzard was cooked just right - firm, flavourful, & had absorbed the braising flavours well. It was pleasantly crunchy without being rubbery or overly chewy. Not every Michelin recommendation comes with a WOW factor. But with its reasonable prices & decent quality, this is the kind of stall that can easily become a regular weekday lunch option.

1 word, consistency. That’s my experience since discovering them since 2017. Taste is decent, intestines are well cleansed. Never had a funky experience before. Just a tad oily, but nothing a hot cup of coffee or tea can’t help after. Salted veg is 1 of my fav among many kway zhup stalls. It’s confit in pork lard & oil.

Tried the kway chap at Ah Heng Duck Rice and overall it was really good. The braised items were flavourful, especially the intestines which were cleaned very well and cooked perfectly, soft without any unpleasant taste. The only downside for me was the kway, which was a little overcooked and too soft.

Went there to have kway chap for breakfast, the owner gave a generous serving of delicious duck meat plus other things (egg, beancurd). Overall, a very delectable visit!

If you love old school braised duck in thick soya sauce , it’s here at hong lim. The duck is tender and well marinated . The braised goodness went beyond the surface , it really penetrated into the meat . Pig skin is springy and QQ Tau Lok was good . I found the pork belly too fatty for my liking . Intestines had some smell but masked by the thic Gravy. For $20 its was a feast for 2 pax !!!

Duck drumstick rice, add tau pok, pig skin and salted veg. $10.20. Decent price. Duck was tender and flavourful. However, everything is so oily. There was a shimmering layer of oil on the sauce, even the tau pok was soaked in oil like a sponge - no idea why they had to fry the tau pok before braising it which makes it super oily. Halfway thru the plate started to feel “jelat” liao coz it’s too oily. No soup was served too. Will prefer my usual braised duck stall just behind this stall, An Kee.

Today’s comfort food fix – Kway Chap at Ah Heng Duck Rice (同济前阿兴鸭饭) 🍲🦆 Located at 531 Upper Cross Street Food Centre, this bowl is a real feast with everything inside – tender duck meat, braised eggs, duck liver, silky pig skin, crunchy salted veggies, and of course those chewy pig intestines. 🤤 Every bite is a mix of savory goodness and nostalgia – super shiok and fulfilling! 💯 #KwayChap #DuckRice #AhHeng #UpperCrossStreet #FoodieAdventure #ShiokAh #SingaporeEats #ComfortFood #BraisedGoodness
