He Ji Braised Duck

Bad experience - excessive pouring by hawker of thick gravy slopped over the half portion of braised duck likely contained large amounts of msg. It gave me a big headache and body aches within an hour of eating their braised duck. Attached picture shows the half duck AFTER i poured out 75% of the thick gravy slop into one of the hawker trashbins, and yet i still felt the horrible effects of whatever they put inside. Will never eat their food ever again. 2 thumbs down 👎👎

Already a queue at 9am+. But this is probably the best duck rice/stall in the market. People queuing are buying a few packets at once, and the queue moves slowly. I went for the $5 duck rice, while I was not impressed with their portion and soup, the braised duck sauce was done perfectly, and the duck meat was tender. It was definitely an above average duck rice, and I really enjoyed the chilli. For the large eaters though, this might not be enough.

Solid braised duck rice & kwaychap! Got a $4 braised duck rice with 1 liver & 1 gizzard (60cents each), along with the kway chap set $4.50. Very generous portions, and duck is very tender and sauce is super flavourful. Chili complimented it well too! Prefer the duck rice over the kway chap. Their kway chap chili is very special. Do be prepared to queue! Waited in line for around 45 minutes on sunday lunch hour.

The longest queue in the market — and for good reason! This time I went for their kway chap set ($4.50), which comes with a silky bowl of flat rice sheets in a light, comforting broth, plus a generous mix of braised goodies like pork belly, intestines, and skin. This long queue stall is famous for a good reason. Probably the best duck rice i have had since …… they start their preparation all in-house. And you will feel it from the first till the last bite.

I think this is easily my top 2 braised duck rice and even kway chap in Sg. Chilli sauce is a must also! I would travel all the way from the East just to eat this.

The only braised duck rice I ever crave for — from West Coast Market! The duck is incredibly tender, the rice is fragrant with the rich braised sauce, and the chilli completes it perfectly. Be sure to come before 3pm or it might be sold out! I ordered the $5 portion for extra duck meat — love how generous they are!

Taste so good. Queue is long because some buy whole box of it plus separate Ala cart. However Q does move and they serve with patience. Food taste damn good. With or without chilli it’s already so yummy. Kueh chap is Q Q tasting too. Come early to avoid crowd building up from 10am on a Friday. Weekend is worst.
