Decided to have a meal at Song Fa as there was no queue, but even before boiling soup was served, I was already left boiling due to the bad attitude from the staff. Double standards shown by the staff there immediately. Told her I would like to put my trolley bag under the table and she mockingly went "I doubt there is any space," and rolled her eyes. My companion wanted to put her bag on an empty seat and beneath the table too, she whisked it away claiming we don't need it. Every tourist could put their bags on seats next to them and covered with a cloth, but no we can't. Why I wonder? During dining, two female staff too kept brushing past my back with their gloved hands. Are their judgement for space so bad or am I not seeing 7th month visitors that they need to come so close to me because they are avoiding them? I watched too as a couple of orders were also returned because the other customers order Large and what was given was Small, and staff mockingly call out like "wow, how can you make such a mistake? 🙄". This begs me to think: it is a common occurrence so that tourists who only dine in once will not catch the mistake? Nonetheless, credit where credit is due, food was ok. Rice and pork ribs were too dry, but kidney and stomach was cooked perfectly. Would not dine in again if such lousy attitudes are shown. Know how to collect service fee promptly yet freaking fail at service.

The rich pepper and garlic flavors were absolutely delightful ❤️ Free refills of soup made it incredibly satisfying 😋 Most importantly, the staff were all so friendly, and I even made two friends with a strong connection to Taiwan (the older sister who almost became a Taiwanese daughter-in-law and the younger brother whose sister-in-law is Taiwanese). I hope my business trip tomorrow will allow me to visit them again!

1. Visited at 2 PM on a weekend, waited 40 minutes 2. No need to go to the main branch. There are many branches nearby. 3. Try adding Sambal sauce to the Bak Kut Teh. It is really delicious, living up to its reputation! The Dongpo Pork was just okay. But since I mixed the rice into the broth, I kept eating. It tastes like Galbitang with a slight spice aroma! The S size portion is small. Try ordering the You Tiao(?)! Recommended!! 4. Unlimited refills of broth 5. The interior is hot and chaotic

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Singapore because I wanted to try Bak Kut Teh. The peppery soup was delicious, and it was lighter and easier to eat than I expected. The spare ribs were also tender and paired perfectly with the soup. Dipping the fried bread into the soup was also tasty, and I enjoyed a truly Singaporean meal. I would like to eat here again when I visit Singapore again.

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh stands as a celebrated Singapore culinary institution, and dining at the original flagship branch confirms that its iconic reputation is thoroughly deserved. Quite simply the finest pork soup encountered outside of Korea, it delivers an authentic masterclass in slow-cooked broth that makes every single minute spent in the inevitable peak-hour queue entirely justifiable. The signature Bak Kut Teh is deeply layered, aromatic, and packed with robust savory warmth, anchored by a clear, peppery broth with an umami depth that lingers long after the meal. The pork ribs are cooked to textbook perfection—exceptionally tender to the point of effortlessly slipping off the bone while retaining their succulent richness. The restaurant maintains a straightforward, efficient, and unpretentious environment that dispenses with unnecessary frills and allows the exceptional quality of the kitchen to speak entirely for itself. The original branch carries an authentic heritage and operational consistency that is immediately evident from the very first sip. For travelers in Singapore with an appreciation for comforting, world-class pork soup traditions, Song Fa Bak Kut Teh is an indispensable culinary stop. Arriving early to get ahead of the line is recommended, but the reward is well worth the wait. Highly recommended without reservation.

The wait was about 40 minutes on Friday night, and the seating was a bit cramped. But the food was delicious, and the staff were very attentive in refilling our soup. We chose this restaurant because we were going to Clarke Quay afterwards; otherwise, it might have been more comfortable to have hot soup in an air-conditioned department store. Overall, the food was very good.

It was delicious and the drinks were good, that's all. It wasn't "Wow, this is amazing!" My favorite was the pepper soup. It was very crowded. I arrived at 9:30 am and didn't have to wait for a table, but it was still quite full. Lots of locals and tourists alike.

I visited on a Sunday a little after 6 PM. There were about 15 groups in line, but I was able to get in fairly quickly. It was my first time trying Bak Kut Teh and it was incredibly delicious. Personally, I preferred the fried bread to the rice. The staff were also very kind and kept coming to refill my soup.
