Been a fan of shiopan for years before the hype recently in sg. Buttery salty bread. Chewy, oily, salty, crispy, I like. Here they serve quality shiopan too. Also know as salted butter rolls , the less atas name. However I find the price here is hyped too high even with maybe Elle or President butter. Bought 2 box assorted, 1 to gift my parents and 1 for own consumption. Originals 3 pc $11+. Mentaiko 3pc $18+. $40 bucks for 6 pc of bread is a interesting experience in Singapore. At Scapepark, sunset way, swee heng and even some other bakery at prime locations are selling at $2.00 to $3.00 for the korsong originals with similar taste using premium jap flour, sea salt, butter and packaging. Non the least taste is good bias to something i like and get some insta pose.

If you're a fan of Japanese-style bread, Kohpan Japanese Bakery at Upper Serangoon Road is a must-visit. Their signature Shio Pan is baked fresh with a beautifully crispy, buttery crust and a soft, fluffy interior. The Original Shio Pan is simple yet delicious, while the Mentaiko and Truffle Mushroom flavours offer a rich and satisfying twist for those looking for something more indulgent. These are made with premium Japanese and French ingredients, giving every bite a light, fragrant, and authentic taste. The bakery has a clean, modern takeaway concept, and although there's often a queue during peak hours, the quality of the bread makes the wait worthwhile. Pair your freshly baked shio pan with a cup of coffee for a perfect afternoon treat. Whether you're grabbing a quick snack or bringing a box home to share, Kohpan Japanese Bakery is a wonderful addition to the vibrant food scene along Upper Serangoon Road and a place I'll gladly return to.

Been wanting to try it since passing by the shop! TLDR: It’s nice but won’t be buying again 🙂↕️ Got one of each! Plain: 4.5/5 ⭐️, buttery and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside! Wished that there was more of a butter and salt taste for this one. Mentaiko: 2.5/5 ⭐️, followed the instructions and re air-fried it. this one was sooooo oily from the mentaiko mayo that i felt my arteries were going to clog 🤣. it was so jelak that we were struggling to finish it. Truffle: 2.5/5 ⭐️, another one that was soooo oily i thought i was gonna have a heart attack lol. didn’t have a strong truffle taste. also was so jelak that we were struggling to finish it. OVERALL, i would ONLY go for the plain one again BUT the prices of all these shio pans are not justifiable 🙂↕️…

Saw it in ig and they are having temporary stall in takashimaya till 7 July so we went there to try. They look good, like just the right crispiness on the outside. there are 3 flavours original, mentaiko and truffle. I wanted to buy two but staff said can only buy one or 3 (a box)… which i think a bit strange. The only thing I should have done but didnt was to try them on the spot or right after i bought them. It’s dinner time and didn’t want to spoil my appetite so bought and try them only the next day. They didnt look as crisp as the day before. I tried and toasted the truffle shiopan and upgraded it with some avocado and egg. The shio pan was crispy and the truffle cream was savory, great to be enjoyed as it is but with avo n egg is yummy as well.

I had very high expectations for the shiopan after seeing so many positive reviews, but it was a huge disappointment!! The shiopan wasn't even crispy. It was so oily that oil literally dripped out with every bite. Instead of tasting buttery, each mouthful was just overwhelmingly greasy. The mentaiko shiopan was also far too salty. And adding truffle on top of an already oily shio pan made it even more unpleasant. I took one bite of the truffle shiopan and ended up throwing the rest away because I simply couldn't finish it. I noticed they had Lescure butter on display, so I assumed that's what they use in their shiopan. If that's the case, it's a real waste of good butter. Judging by the large hollow cavity inside the bread, the dough-to-butter ratio seems off. More butter doesn't necessarily make a better shiopan. On top of that, the bread itself lacked flavour. There was no noticeable wheat aroma or rich buttery fragrance that I'd expect from a good shiopan. Overall, it was a complete waste of money and calories.

A small Japanese bakery in Kovan with a cozy atmosphere. Overall, it was a decent experience, but I feel the bread may not appeal to everyone. If you enjoy savoury breads, this place might be worth trying. We sampled all three shio pan variants—Truffle, Tuna, and Plain—but unfortunately, none of them really stood out to us or our kids. We paid around S$32++ for six pieces ofshio pan, which felt a little pricey considering the taste and overall experience. Overall, it was an average visit. While the quality was decent, it wasn’t memorable enough for me to return.

Kohpan (aka Shio Pan) is a great spot if you're craving Japanese-style salt bread. I especially enjoyed the truffle shio pan—it was fragrant, buttery, and definitely my favourite. The prices are a little steeper compared to other shio pan outlets, so it's not somewhere I'd visit regularly. That said, the quality is good, and the cute presentation makes it a nice place to pick up pastries for family, friends, or special occasions. Overall: Worth trying, especially the truffle shio pan, but I'd probably save it for gifting or when I want to treat my loved ones rather than as an everyday bakery.

Enjoyed these shio pans from @kohpan.sg! While the reviews online are quite mixed, my experience was a very positive one. I was initially taken aback by the price but later found out that it reflects the high-quality ingredients used — Lescure butter from France, mentaiko from Japan and truffle from Italy. Thankfully, the quality really shines through. I queued up on a Saturday morning to get them and immediately shared the original shio pan with my youngest son. It was truly a delight. The exterior was wonderfully crisp and flavourful, while the inside was light and airy. As we bit into it, rich butter oozed out from within, making each mouthful incredibly satisfying. I was also happy that the shio pans and their toppings held up well even after being brought home. I air-fried them that afternoon for lunch and again the next day for my wife. Both times, the shio pans retained their crispness, while the cream toppings stayed intact rather than melting away. The Premium Truffle Mushroom was earthy, fragrant and packed with umami, while the Mentaiko was more savoury and briny, with a depth of flavour that complemented the butteriness of the shio pan beautifully. As for the store itself, I was a little disappointed to discover that the buns were not on display. Instead, all we could see were boxes with replicas of the various offerings. Part of the joy of visiting a bakery lies in admiring the bakes and catching their aroma as they emerge fresh from the oven. That said, given Koh Pan’s focused menu, perhaps they do not see a need for a traditional display. Overall, I would recommend that all shio pan lovers give this place a try at least once. As for me, I’d gladly return for the original shio pan
