Gf and I were shio pan lovers and decided to try this hyped version. Got the 6pc of mixed flavours and just like any hyped products, the disappointment was huge. It wasn't crispy at all, and felt soggy after reheating via air fryer. The flavours were quite mild, unlike other mentaiko and truffle flavoured food products I have tried. Tbh, for this price it's really a scam and I would recommend breadtalk's shio pan. It is so much better in terms of flavour, crispness and price. How can anyone be rating 5 stars when there is no taste nor value?

I fell in love with shio pan after trying it at Buttertown along South Bridge Road, so when this place was recommended to me, I was more than happy to give it a try. In fact, I was so confident that I didn’t even bother reading the reviews beforehand. I went ahead and ordered six pieces — the Signature Trio and the plain shio pan. Collection was smooth and fuss-free, so everything started off well. I was genuinely excited to get home and taste them. I was that excited that I even took a video, already prepared to do a nice little unboxing and post it. 😂 I popped the shio pan into the air fryer to toast it before eating. But the moment I tore one open, I already had a feeling about where this was going. And unfortunately, after tasting it… it was nowhere near the shio pan from Buttertown. The outside wasn’t as crispy and flaky, while the inside wasn’t as soft, airy and buttery. For me, that contrast between the crisp exterior and soft interior is what makes a really good shio pan addictive. This one just didn’t deliver the same experience. What made it more disappointing was the price. The plain shio pan costs $1 more, yet the quality, at least compared with what I had previously tasted at Buttertown, felt quite far off. I was expecting something special, especially after being recommended this place. Then came the truffle shio pan. Omg. 😭 $6.90 for this? Jinjja?! I honestly couldn’t understand the price-to-quality ratio. The truffle flavour didn’t give me the kind of “wow” moment I was expecting at that price point. Maybe my expectations were simply too high after having such a good shio pan elsewhere, but when you’re paying a premium, you naturally expect the product to justify it. And the funniest part? I still had two more plain ones, one chocolate and one mentaiko sitting there waiting for me. 😂 I really wanted to like these because I genuinely love shio pan, and I was hoping I had just picked the wrong flavours. But after the first few, I was already lowering my expectations for the remaining pieces. Perhaps it’s simply a matter of personal preference, and others may enjoy this version. But having tasted Buttertown’s shio pan first, that has unfortunately become my benchmark — and this one just didn’t come close for me. Verdict: I went in excited, armed with six shio pans and a video ready for an unboxing post. I came out questioning my purchase instead. 😅 If you’re a shio pan lover, I’d say manage your expectations, especially if you’re comparing it with Buttertown. Tried Kohpan's shio pans for the first time and they are really delicious! Got the box of 3 different flavors and personally i found their original shio pan and mentaiko shio pan the best. Its a little bit on the pricey side, but worth eating once in awhile. There are only 3 tiny seating areas outside the shop, and pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon and all 3 seats were empty.

Been a fan of shiopan for years before the hype recently in sg. Buttery salty bread. Chewy, oily, salty, crispy, I like. Here they serve quality shiopan too. Also know as salted butter rolls , the less atas name. However I find the price here is hyped too high even with maybe Elle or President butter. Bought 2 box assorted, 1 to gift my parents and 1 for own consumption. Originals 3 pc $11+. Mentaiko 3pc $18+. $40 bucks for 6 pc of bread is a interesting experience in Singapore. At Scapepark, sunset way, swee heng and even some other bakery at prime locations are selling at $2.00 to $3.00 for the korsong originals with similar taste using premium jap flour, sea salt, butter and packaging. Non the least taste is good bias to something i like and get some insta pose.

Been wanting to try it since passing by the shop! TLDR: It’s nice but won’t be buying again 🙂‍↕️ Got one of each! Plain: 4.5/5 ⭐️, buttery and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside! Wished that there was more of a butter and salt taste for this one. Mentaiko: 2.5/5 ⭐️, followed the instructions and re air-fried it. this one was sooooo oily from the mentaiko mayo that i felt my arteries were going to clog 🤣. it was so jelak that we were struggling to finish it. Truffle: 2.5/5 ⭐️, another one that was soooo oily i thought i was gonna have a heart attack lol. didn’t have a strong truffle taste. also was so jelak that we were struggling to finish it. OVERALL, i would ONLY go for the plain one again BUT the prices of all these shio pans are not justifiable 🙂‍↕️…

Saw it in ig and they are having temporary stall in takashimaya till 7 July so we went there to try. They look good, like just the right crispiness on the outside. there are 3 flavours original, mentaiko and truffle. I wanted to buy two but staff said can only buy one or 3 (a box)… which i think a bit strange. The only thing I should have done but didnt was to try them on the spot or right after i bought them. It’s dinner time and didn’t want to spoil my appetite so bought and try them only the next day. They didnt look as crisp as the day before. I tried and toasted the truffle shiopan and upgraded it with some avocado and egg. The shio pan was crispy and the truffle cream was savory, great to be enjoyed as it is but with avo n egg is yummy as well.

I had very high expectations for the shiopan after seeing so many positive reviews, but it was a huge disappointment!! The shiopan wasn't even crispy. It was so oily that oil literally dripped out with every bite. Instead of tasting buttery, each mouthful was just overwhelmingly greasy. The mentaiko shiopan was also far too salty. And adding truffle on top of an already oily shio pan made it even more unpleasant. I took one bite of the truffle shiopan and ended up throwing the rest away because I simply couldn't finish it. I noticed they had Lescure butter on display, so I assumed that's what they use in their shiopan. If that's the case, it's a real waste of good butter. Judging by the large hollow cavity inside the bread, the dough-to-butter ratio seems off. More butter doesn't necessarily make a better shiopan. On top of that, the bread itself lacked flavour. There was no noticeable wheat aroma or rich buttery fragrance that I'd expect from a good shiopan. Overall, it was a complete waste of money and calories.
