Craving for a nice plate of char siew roasted meat rice, but unfortunately this was a major disappointment 🥲 The char siew was dry, roasted pork wasn’t crispy, noodles had way too much gravy and were soggy, and even the rice was too soft. Only saving grace might be the… chilli lol 🌶️ The place itself also wasn’t very clean and there was an unpleasant smell, which made the dining experience even less enjoyable. Should’ve trusted my instinct and gone to the other shops nearby that were packed with people. Thought I’d give this a chance because of the fairly good Google reviews, but sadly it didn’t live up to them. There was only one person serving us and he wasn’t particularly friendly either. Also heard that the prices displayed were from 10 years ago and no longer accurate… then why not update them or at least strike them off? 🤷🏻♀️ Seldom leave bad reviews, but this was too disappointing not to share. Will not be returning, even though it’s literally so close to our house 🥲

Chanced across Kay lee roast meat today. Serves a presentable plate of char siew rice, it's solidly above the average char siew id say. Didn't really appeal to me in it's heyday, now looking a little faded. Not sure what happened to it over the years, but I think its not bad.

The roast meat selection was pretty extensive and staff were friendly. The roasted pork was especially juicy and not burnt.

This shop really feels like it’s past its prime. The food was honestly quite meh — the meats lacked depth and flavour, and the noodles were overcooked and mushy. What bothered me more was the state of the kitchen. From what’s visible from the seating area, it looks cluttered, messy, and not very clean. The floor was wet, equipment looked worn out, and overall hygiene didn’t seem properly maintained. Plenty of better options around nowadays. Wouldn’t return.

Yes, this place had lived beyond it's commercially useful life ...aged equipment n facilities... However, the roast pork which I tapau, was still cracking crunchy.. One piece was badly charred n yet the guy still have the guts to put into my box. This worth's my visit there as a secondary place. Primarily, I was there because of the popular HK cafe with nice dim sum a few doors away
