The food was genuinely good and salty. The cocktails, however, were quite subpar. The real highlight, though, was their service or rather, their surprisingly aggressive “countdowns” to get us out. I don’t know why they enforce a strict 90-minute seating limit and they made sure you’re well aware of it, with helpful little reminders like, “You have 30 minutes left,” followed by, “15 minutes left.” Nothing says hospitality quite like being treated as though you’re sitting an exam with a timer running in the corner. Very traumatising. Considering two people can easily spend $100–$200 on a couple of drinks and snacks, you’d think they might want customers to actually enjoy the experience rather than feel like they’re being politely evicted right? Good food, mediocre cocktails, and a service experience that somehow managed to leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Not worth the revisit unless you like getting harassed.

Genuinely enjoyed our Sunday evening here. We just walked in and got a table. Exactly my type of place - tapas style eating + nice drinks. Will have to come back for the cocktails as we had their orange wine by the glass - which was lovely, and the pairing with the food was very fresh and light on the palate. The salad was super refreshing, love a place that uses mint in their salads. We also had the “bits and bobs” which were inventive aperitifs and super tasty (and served in this super cute bento ish pottery). The food was delicious and FAR from boring, but light enough to enjoy if you want a boozy night. The fried chicken was phenomenal. I think they deserve higher stars. Ambience was great, fantastic retro 50s-70s music, soul (think Nat King Cole, Three Sacred Souls), but it was at just the right volume so that we could have nice conversations without shouting (this is a real pet peeve of mine at other establishments). Lastly, the service was great. Food was served quickly, and they genuinely asked for feedback after the meal - apparently we just tried a new menu! We will be back! Reminded us of our favourite wine bars in Lisbon.

Barbon Funk has become one of my favorite bars, and a huge part of that is the incredible team behind it. From my very first visit, Nigel made me feel completely at home. Every time I come back, I’m welcomed with the same genuine warmth and hospitality. Together with Daniel and Joe, they’ve created an experience that goes far beyond great cocktails—they make every guest feel like family. One thing I never skip is the Pork Crackling pairing with my cocktails. It’s an absolute must-order and one of the best bar snacks I’ve had. It complements the drinks perfectly. What truly keeps me coming back, though, is my personalized cocktail. The team crafted something that suits my palate perfectly, and it’s now my signature order every visit. It’s a beautiful combination of mezcal, yuzu, capsicum, lime shaved tong kah nuts, and a delicate tuile, creating a drink that’s smoky, citrusy, slightly savory, and incredibly well-balanced. It’s unique, memorable, and simply delicious. If you’re open to trying something off the menu, I’d highly recommend asking the team about it. “BAD habits” were great too! Thank you, Nigel, Daniel, Sarang, Collin and Joe, for consistently delivering exceptional hospitality and making every visit feel special. Great cocktails can be found in many places, but genuine hospitality is much harder to come by—and that’s exactly what makes Barbon Funk stand out. Bar Bon Funk!!! Food definitely blew me away as I thought they will be more specialised in cocktails. Turns out, I'll be back for the food more than the cocktails 😂😅 Must order food including Chips, Prosciutto, Pickles and Parisian Gnocchi, White Corn And Morels. Fried chicken and Tuna Tartare Tart - you can give a miss if you ain't that hungry as it was alright. Great service as I requested for the Cartoon Network cocktail and they mentioned it's not stated in the menu and by request only. Definitely brought back childhood memories :) Really chill vibes and nice place for a date night!

It seems this area used to be a school that has been converted into shops. The location itself feels like a local spot that tourists rarely visit. Since there is a Korean staff member named Sarang, you can use Korean if you are unable to speak English. Even without the Korean option, you can feel that all the bartenders pay attention to each and every customer. There is nothing lacking, from the service to the taste. I am not sure if I will come back to Singapore... but if I do, this is one of the places I will definitely visit again.

We had an awesome date night here. The food was amazing, especially the wagyu and the fried chicken. The drinks were great as well, and the mixologists were even willing to do custom drinks for us. Shout out to the entire team who were all so hospitable and friendly: Colin, Dylan, Dias, Keith. Reservations recommended though you might get lucky on a weekday night. Wed and Sat are nights where they feature a live DJ, so those nights definitely get very crowded.

Bartender asked how my drink was (Bee’s Knees). I said I liked the classic version better. Bartender said they’d be happy to make the classic version and offered it, and asked if I still wanted my drink (had more than half of it left). I said he could clear it. He cleared it. I got the classic version. He asked how it was. I said it was better. He charged me for 2 Bee’s Knees. I paid and left.

Bar Bon Funk delivers on all fronts. Great cocktail spread with a creative and thoughtful selection, plus an awesome music-forward vibe that makes you want to stay all night. What surprised me even more were the bar bites. The gnocchi and sandwich were both seriously delicious and far beyond what you would normally expect from bar food. Sadly, our night was cut short since we walked in without a reservation and the place quickly filled up.
