Bánh Xèo Bà Dưỡng

This famous banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancake) restaurant in Da Nang serves food of decent quality as advertised. The banh xeo is in the Central Vietnamese style, so it's a bit oily. The pancakes are small to medium in size. The restaurant is crowded despite the presence of many other banh xeo restaurants nearby. Serving time isn't too long. The menu is limited to just a few dishes, but the seasoning is quite good. The dipping sauce is rich and creamy, and there's plenty of vegetables; you can ask for more. This restaurant is worth trying when you're traveling.

There are a lot of Japanese people here. It's located at the end of a back alley, so please look for it on Google Maps. The entrance was narrow, but it was spacious inside. They asked me how many banh xeos I wanted, and I ordered two. The meat came in a set of five. The banh xeos come with herbs, cucumber, and thin wrappers. You put the ingredients on about two wrappers, roll them up tightly, and eat them with the sauce. The sauce was like a sesame sauce with minced meat mixed in. Eat it quickly and get out, don't linger.

We went at 2 PM so the restaurant wasn't too crowded, but it was still about 70% full. The grilled beef was delicious, the savory pancake was decent and not greasy, and the grilled pork skewers were average. "Delicious grilled beef, delicious grilled beef, delicious grilled beef - I repeated what's important three times 😀" However, I didn't pay attention when it came time to pay, and only noticed later that iced tea was 3k and passion fruit juice was 15k, but two iced teas and one passion fruit juice were charged 25k.

The Vietnamese savory pancake (Bánh xèo) was pretty good. I recommend everyone try it. The beef wrapped in betel leaves (Thịt bò lá lốt) was decent. As for the grilled pork skewers (Nem lụi), they were a bit too sweet and bland for Northern Vietnamese palates. If you can't handle sweet drinks, you should choose the aloe vera juice. The seating area wasn't very clean and was noisy due to the large number of customers, but it was still possible to have a conversation.

Seriously, if you are staying in this area, or even if you have come to Da Nang, Vietnam, you absolutely cannot leave without trying Banh Xeo Ba Duong. It’s probably the best Banh Xeo in all of Da Nang. The crispiness is insane. The sauce is delicious too. Don't order anything else; just order one Banh Xeo per person. Phew. Please, please open a chain in Korea. Phew.

The food was delicious, but the prices were a bit high. A plate of Vietnamese savory pancake (like the one in the picture) cost 90k VND. The grilled pork skewers were smooth, like minced pork. I liked the dipping sauce here; it's a peanut-based sauce, not the sweet and sour kind you find in the North. This portion was enough for two people to eat until they were full.

The bánh xèo is easy to make, but thats not why people are there. everyone comes because of the sauce, and you can get a refill on it. Ive been here more times than i can count (before they got famous), the food is great, prices are a bit on the higher end for banh xeo, but what do you expect? Its a Michelin recommended place now. The parking and getting into it can be horrendous, if you go on a busy day, be prepapred to wait, or go and find your own table like i always do. Some employees are good, some crack under pressure, depending on who youre dealing with. Good luck with that. We always get the classics, banh xeo and nem, good for 2. The SAUCE IS AMAZING, i need to learn how to make the sauce so i dont have to come to DN for it.

The photo shows the entire menu. It's a popular restaurant so it's crowded, but the food comes out very quickly, so customers leave quickly too. The food was delicious, but the staff's friendliness and attitude weren't very good. By the way, the wet wipes on the table are not free. It's not a lot of money, but if you don't want to pay, bring your own.
