MASONRY. Restaurant Canggu

Had an amazing dinner at Masonry. The food was delightful. The 48 slow cooked ribs melted in your mouth with richness and the spicy cauliflower provided a nice cut and freshness to the richness. The mash was one of the best I’ve had. Close to a bone marrow mash I had years ago at Aria in Sydney. The service was exceptional - Dui (hopefully got his spelling right) was accomodating with my request and was a great server 👏 . The lychee martini could do with some work but overall they fixed it for me with my request. Which I appreciated. Worth going there again. And they were kind to also celebrate with a yummy passionfruit tart. I would highly recommend going there. A place to definitely celebrate any special moments.

This was our first dinner after arriving in the Canggu area, and even though it unfortunately started raining, it still turned into such a memorable evening. We chose to sit outdoors, but thankfully the outdoor area was covered, so the rain didn’t affect the experience at all. The atmosphere here is honestly beautiful. With the open kitchen, candle lighting, and lush garden-like outdoor dining area, the whole restaurant feels elegant and romantic without trying too hard. Once the lights dimmed in the evening, it became such a perfect place to relax, talk, and enjoy the night. The food was genuinely excellent. The beef, burrata cheese, and asparagus dishes were all incredibly well executed and full of flavor. Everything felt refined but still comforting. I also really want to thank the staff. After they found out we were celebrating a birthday, they kindly prepared a special dessert for us, which made the night feel even more meaningful and touching. Small gestures like this really stay in your memory. Overall, this is a fantastic restaurant. I know some people call it an “Instagram-famous” place, but after dining here myself, I completely understand why. It’s not popular just because it looks beautiful — it’s genuinely a great restaurant, and the experience fully lives up to the reputation.

We visited Masonry in Canggu recently, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We often go to restaurants and bars in Bali, so we understand how busy places can get, especially during peak hours. However, from the start, the service was problematic. We were a group of four and put our name down first. There was another group of four behind us who registered after we did. We waited outside for about 25 minutes, only to see that group being seated before us. When we asked the staff, they claimed the other group had registered earlier, which simply wasn’t true. It was confusing and honestly frustrating. Once seated, things didn’t improve. We ordered a dish and waited around 30 minutes. After asking about it, we were told the item had run out. What was disappointing was that no one informed us earlier or offered to let us change our order. We were just left waiting without any update. The service felt disorganized and at times even a bit rude. I understand it was busy, but neglecting customers isn’t acceptable. The food itself was okay — edible, but nothing special. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially during peak hours. The management and service clearly need better coordination and training.

I made a reservation for 8:30 pm. I arrived at 8:15 pm and was informed by the host that I needed to wait 15 minutes because the tables for that time were still occupied. I waited at the bar as requested. However, during this time, I noticed that there were two empty tables inside the restaurant, as well as empty tables outside. When 8:30 pm arrived, I was told that my table was ready and was seated outside. The table, however, appeared exactly the same as when I first arrived it had not been prepared. I was confused as to why I had to wait for a table that was already empty and unchanged from the moment I arrived. While waiting at the bar, I noticed several guests arriving without reservations were seated immediately including at the same tables I was asked to wait for. This made the situation even more confusing, as it seemed that walk-in guests were accommodated faster than those with reservations. Overall, the experience gave the impression that having a reservation offered no advantage and, in fact, resulted in a longer wait. The seating process felt inconsistent and poorly managed. After being seated outside, it started to rain while I was having my appetizer. Other guests were proactively offered indoor seating due to the weather, while I had to ask the waiter myself if I could move inside. The waiter checked with the host and returned saying that all indoor tables were reserved. I was confused, as this would have meant continuing to dine outside in the rain. Only after expressing my frustration was I immediately moved to an indoor table, which raised further questions about table availability and consistency in how guests were treated. To be fair, the food was excellent. The charred carrots were delicious, the steak was well cooked, and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. I have no complaints about the food itself. Unfortunately, the service did not meet the standard of a restaurant of this level and significantly affected the overall experience. Just because we are locals does not mean we should be treated differently. I felt disrespected by the way we were handled, and the experience gave the impression that assumptions were being made about us rather than offering equal treatments to all guests.

It was my first time here,I like it so so much.We had beef carpaccio which was tasty and a little bit different because there is an egg on it (only the yellow part).We also had the tuna bite.It came with a peace of lavash,it was not bad.For the main we had the wagyu meat 300g and the beef cheaks.The wagyu was perrrrrrfect+wagyu pastarmi perrrrrrrfect.The wine was nice as well.The service was amazing as well everyone was very kind.For me just the tuna and we orderder patato,wasn’t as perfect as the rest of it but everything else was more than excellent!! Edit:we went again and it was amazing againn!!Special thank to the kindest one Annel who makes sure to seat us on the best table amd help us everytike if we have a question.This time we try the eggplant and the wagut kofta.The eggplant flavour was nice a lil bit spicy I liked it a lot (just too much crispy onion in the top for my taste).The wagyu kofta was with very specific indiand dressing which wasn’t for my taste and we go back again to our most favourite dish-waguy pastarmi.Also tried the espresso martini,centerfruit martini and negroni.The cocktails were perfect!!

Perfect spot for date night. The Dry Aged Duck is well worth the extra 5 minute wait. Best dish ive had in bali. The sauces! 🤌 The venue manager was so nice and spoke french with us and even brought us a sweet little treat for our 10 year anniversary. Pro-tip: go towards closing so you can pop your head into The Backroom and dance to some amazing live music at their speakeasy.

Very good ambient and food. Tunik is very helpful and supportive. She even recommend me an dessert which my wife and I reallllyyyy loveee ittt

If you’re looking for a place that serves great food with a cozy atmosphere, this spot is definitely worth a visit. The dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Every bite was full of flavor and clearly made with fresh and good quality ingredients. One of the highlights of the evening was the Bread Pudding the best dessert in town! It was warm, soft, perfectly sweet, and paired beautifully with a creamy sauce. A must try for dessert lovers. The service was warm and attentive the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Special thanks to Pramita, who was truly outstanding! She was friendly, professional, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. Whether you’re coming for a romantic dinner, a family meal, or a casual night out with friends, this place feels just right. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a trusted and satisfying dining experience. Definitely a place I’d come back to again!
