Love this place! 🌳🩵 The service was so warm and friendly, and you can really tell the staff enjoy what they do. Special thanks to Kak Ita and Kak Evi for being so helpful with their recommendations and even checking in to see if we were enjoying the food. Small gesture, but it made the experience feel extra welcoming. The ambiance is lovely too! comfortable, relaxing, and perfect for a nice dinner. Tonight we ordered the Cumi-Cumi Kalio, Lobster Dumplings, Watermelon Juice, Soda Cap Badak, and Pineapple Granita for dessert. We shared everything between two people, and the portions were just right for dinner. Cumi-Cumi Kalio was delicious. I think it would be even better with rice 😂, but we were already too full! The Lobster Dumplings were also so good (flavorful, savory, and packed with shrimp filling) 🫶🏻 As a bonus, there was live music starting around 7:25 PM, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. Great food, great service, and a great vibe overall. Would definitely come back!

Amazing food, incredibly warm and welcoming staff, and a beautiful restaurant. What more could you ask for? We ordered 17 dishes in total (a mix of small plates, a few mains) + desserts, and every single bite was outstanding. The flavors were exceptional, and each dish brought something unique to the table. I highly recommend Hujan Locale to anyone looking to experience delicious, authentic Indonesian cuisine in a refined yet relaxed setting. A truly memorable dining experience.

Attentive service staff fluent in English. The food comes with flavourful spice and best paired with rice. The bar serves alcoholic cocktails with a local twist. The beef rendang was very well done and the meat still had texture to bite into. The pork satay skewers contained meat chunks infused with a pleasantly smoky charred flavor. The scallop ceviche and slipper lobster dumplings were also a tasty experience. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in central Ubud.

Love love love the decor and ambiance of Hujan Locale. The minute i stepped into the restaurant, it’s like stepping into another time. The cocktails were surprisingly good, while the food met our (very high) expectations. Local fusion at its best, and they did not spare the spice! Dumplings are a must-try. Most of all, we were grateful for the heartfelt and attentive service from our server Yuna, who made our celebration dinner extra special.

Had been wanting to dine here for the many years it has been open, but one reason or another had not made it. As a result, I wanted to try as many things as possible for this well regarded Ubud institution. I'm not going to be elaborate on the setting in this review. It is well documented in the others feedback, it is a modern classy dining experience with a heavy influence to the Balinese styling and high class service. We chose 3 dishes from the GlUtEn FrEe menu. The dietary options is on a seperate menu with distinct listings for different allergy types such gluten free, dairy, nuts, etc - the staff even ask the kitchen to not cross touch the dishes that are selected off this menu is other dishes are selected. The food was rich, delicious and exceptionally presented. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pork sate 🐖 (wife found them salty) GF ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beef Rendang 🐄 GF ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chargrilled octopus 🐙 GF ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Slow cooked pork belly 🐖 ⭐⭐⭐ Groper dumplings 🥟 - deep fried and crispy wonton creates great texture ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chicken sate 🐔 from the kids menu - that sauce is divine ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nasi goreng 🐠 from the kids menu ⭐ Chilli & Lime Margarita - was overpowered by pineapple juice and no other flavours beside the dusting on the glass (disappointing) Tony Chen recommends this with the comment that is an experience but I do not need to return

It was lovely to be back. We always drop into Hujan Locale when we are in Ubud. The variety of indonesian signature dishes changes and the staff are really helpful in making our selections. A special shout out to Ita who remembered us from our visit last year. Great food and warm hospitality in the centre of Ubud.

Found this place through this year’s Wonderful Indonesia Gourmet Guide and I think Hujan Locale has represent the idea of Indonesian dish perfectly. The menu is so diverse and accommodating towards various allergies. I am particularly fond of the scallop ceviche and the Jagung Bakar with pork floss is brilliant (my childhood snack is getting a remix haha). For mains, we went for Chicken Korma and Rendang. Oh my word, out of the world kind of good. Cocktails are absolutely divine too, personal fav would Butterfly Pea Martini but they have mocktails in a grown up glass too (if you know what I mean). I can’t wait to go back. 100% recommended.

I really wanted to like Hujan Locale, but honestly, it just didn’t live up to the hype. Or the price tag. For 330k, I was expecting something exceptional, something that justifies the upscale branding. Instead, what I got felt no different from what you’d find in a good local warung—except here, you’re paying triple for the same experience. The beef rendang, which should’ve been the highlight, was average at best. Flavor was fine, but not memorable. I’ve had rendang from tiny family-run spots that easily outshine this one in both taste and soul. Even the presentation lacked finesse. The ambiance was pleasant enough, but the service crossed into overbearing. The staff seemed to lose their minds over the fact that I had a bottle of energy drink with me—even though I wasn’t drinking it. The way they reacted was unnecessary and frankly insulting. For a restaurant that tries to present itself as refined, that kind of attitude felt petty and off-putting. Overall, Hujan Locale feels like a place coasting on reputation and aesthetics rather than substance. The food is decent, but if you actually care about flavor and value, you’ll find better—and more authentic—meals in the warungs down the street.
