Fried oyster omelette ($8 & $10, no more $5). This is the smaller plate. A very untidy fry but yummy. Surprised it’s in the Michelin recommendation. The chilli dip is unique and pairs well

HUAT HENG FRIED OYSTER • Orh Luak!!! 🍳 🦪 Normally known as Oyster Omelette, consist of starch, egg batter and small oysters. Served with a spicy chilli sauce! 🔥 • Probably the next best already. 👍 Until I can find someone else better than the OG Jalan Besar Uncle who has already retired! 😢 • Which Orh Luak do yall recommend? 🤠 • Nearest MRT: Boon Keng (NEL) • Address: 90 Whampoa Drive #01-26 Singapore 320090 • #singapore #orhluak #whampoa #hawker

Best oyster omelette (orh jian) I had in a long while. Having tried this stall once before, a long long time back, I would have written them off, if not for a plate of fried oyster sitting on the counter waiting for pickup. It looked well fried and delicious. The $8/$10 price options were quite a risk to take if it doesn't meet expectation. BUT, my goodness, was it excellent! The egg and starch mixture was well fried with charring. No sign of the mushy starch that most stalls have. Chilly sauce was an excellent accompaniment, just the right tartness for balance. Matches in excess of 80%, to my memory of excellent versions of this traditional dish.

This is the wet version with Chinese celery added during the last stage of cooking. I had the $10 plate being greedy after seeing the Michelin. For me and wife,we both found it very oily( the base of the plate was a pool of oil) and the grassy Chinese celery countered some of the oiliness. The chilli had an added belachan note which didn't really elevate the dish. The only redeeming factor was the freshness of the oysters.I had eaten here before some years back and forgotten that the style didn't suit my taste bud.

I’ve had the oyster omelette here twice. The firs time was superb - it had the right starchiness and wokhey. The second time I had it the texture and taste was good but the wok hey not quite there. So I got to say it’s not the most consistent oyster omelette, but it’s still a good oyster omelette to order if you’re at Whampoa Makan Place!

I regret not having Googled this shop before ordering - I was taken in by the Michelin 2025 sign which I’m not even sure now is legitimate. This was the sorriest platter of orh luak I’ve ever had - the $8 portion was miserable and complete daylight robbery. It was also overly starchy and bland. I’m not convinced the stall owners actually know how to make orh luak

Taste was savoury Oysters are fresh and decent size Egg and starch portion pretty well balanced Coriander leaves are good additions to balance the oiliness The chili is the type I like, not so spicy, vinegary and savoury Only complaint probably the price ($8) But seems not easy to find a stall selling lower than $7 My fav stall at Clementi also increase from $5 to $8 overnight after Covid

$8 for the small plate. It’s crisp & oysters are fresh It’s Michelin 2025 as it paste on the stall. Chill sauce lack the punch otherwise would be enhanced the experience even more
