Thìa Gỗ Restaurant Da Nang

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Da Nang, and it was one of the most memorable restaurants of the trip. Located on a quiet street, the restaurant has plenty of greenery inside, creating an atmosphere where you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a relaxing meal. The dishes mainly feature the flavors of southern Vietnam, and each one was delicious, with the flavors of the ingredients really coming through. The banh xeo, in particular, was exquisite, with a crispy, fragrant exterior and generously filled ingredients. Classic dishes like pho and spring rolls were also carefully prepared, making it perfect for those who want to enjoy a variety of Vietnamese cuisine. The staff were cheerful and friendly, and their clear explanations of the dishes left a positive impression. It's no wonder it's been selected for the Michelin Bib Gourmand. The prices are relatively reasonable, and considering the quality of the food, I felt it offered excellent value for money. It's a popular restaurant, so it can get crowded at certain times, which is a slight concern, but even so, if you're looking for delicious Vietnamese food in Da Nang, I highly recommend this restaurant.

A two-story cafe. There are a few tables outside in front of the entrance. Inside, there are plenty of tables. The lightbulbs on the second floor are lovely, but I'd like the overall lighting to be warmer. The menu is small, but there's plenty to choose from. I ordered the shrimp bun bo, which is essentially noodles with shrimp (there were about seven of them, all peeled) and some vegetables. I liked the shrimp spring rolls. The sauce they serve with them is delicious. I noticed that many people ordered the ban kxeo. It's like a closed pizza or a cheburek, only you don't just eat it, you wrap it in rice paper. The beer is cheap, cheaper than soda.

This place, which I visited for dinner, is satisfying in terms of atmosphere, price, and taste. However, those who are sensitive to the heat might find it a bit difficult. But even so, they make every effort to provide fans and air coolers, allowing you to fully enjoy the atmosphere and the food. It is one of the best places I visited during this trip to Da Nang! I highly recommend it.

I would not recommend this place at all. If you are on a short trip with only a few days to spend, do not waste one of your precious meals here. The staff were extremely busy and the service was non-existent—I had to press the call button three times before anyone finally came to attend to us. To make matters worse, as you can see in the photo, the noodles were served completely clumped together without even being stirred or separated. While the taste itself was okay, the total lack of care and poor service were deeply disappointing. With limited time on your trip, you are much better off eating somewhere else.

We've been frequenting this establishment for two years. By now, they've built up a following and earned recommendations because their food was always delicious. Now, the quality of the food and the staff has dropped significantly. We had severe food poisoning after dining there. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this establishment. It's terrible and sad.

Excellent meal from start to finish. This is what a proper Vietnamese restaurant should feel like: everything we ordered was well executed, the flavors were clean and confident, and nothing needed fixing at the table. It's rare to leave a place with zero complaints, and that's exactly what happened here. The phở is the standout and it's genuinely excellent. The broth has real depth and clarity, the beef is sliced properly and cooked right in the bowl, and it arrives hot the way it should. The beef spring rolls were light and crisp rather than heavy or greasy, and they held their texture all the way through. The morning glory with garlic deserves a specific mention too, because it came with a thicker, well seasoned sauce instead of the thin watery version most places serve. That small difference tells you the kitchen actually cares. I would not change a thing about any of it. The restaurant itself is beautiful. There are foliage plants everywhere, and the whole space is comfortable and clearly very well maintained. Someone is putting real effort into keeping it looking that way, and it makes a noticeable difference to the meal. Ordering was simple, the food came out at a good pace, and prices are reasonable for the quality you're getting. I will definitely go back, and I'd highly recommend it. If you want a properly made bowl of phở in a genuinely lovely setting, this is one of the places to go in Da Nang.

Disappointing experience. The food took quite a long time to be served, which was already frustrating. Unfortunately, the bánh xèo was another disappointment. It looked big because of the thick, crispy batter, but there was very little filling inside. It was mostly batter and oil, and honestly, it felt like we were paying for the size rather than the actual ingredients. The presentation looked good, but the actual dish did not live up to its appearance. I expected more meat, vegetables, and filling instead of mostly fried batter. What made the experience worse was the attitude of the waiter when we asked to have the remaining food packed for takeaway. The way we were treated felt unpleasant and unnecessary, especially since we were simply asking for our food to be packed. Overall, the experience was not worth the price for me. Long waiting time, disappointing bánh xèo with very little filling, and poor service. I hope the restaurant can improve both the food quality and customer service.

A must-visit place at least once. A great introduction to Vietnamese cuisine. But not the usual fare you find on every corner. Southern cuisine is adapted here in a very comfortable way. There are instructions on how to enjoy it all. We didn't get the Michelin for the pretty eyes, I highly recommend it! The beef salad is excellent, the spring rolls are simply delicious, and the huge stuffed flatbread is interesting. It gets crowded around 7 pm, so you might miss out. The beer is delicious, and the wheat bread is finally decent ☺️ for three (including a child), we spent 600,000 rubles, very affordable.
