This time, I had dinner with my dad. We ordered clear turtle soup, ginseng and black chicken soup, steamed goldeneye snapper with yellow pepper sauce, jade tofu, and romaine lettuce, along with white rice and taro rice. The clear turtle soup had a smooth broth, and the ginseng and black chicken soup had a subtle herbal aroma. The steamed goldeneye snapper with yellow pepper sauce was delicious; the fish was tender, and the sauce had a slight spiciness, making it a good accompaniment to the rice. The jade tofu was fried, giving it a slightly fragrant exterior and a soft interior. For drinks, we ordered ginseng chrysanthemum tea and lime juice. Overall, it was a very pleasant meal; enjoying a slow meal with family was a wonderful experience.

I stumbled upon a long-hidden gem of a soup shop in Geylang, a discovery that completely redefines my understanding of Singaporean soups! ✨ Every dish was a delightful experience: the rich, gelatinous turtle soup, the mellow and sweet ginseng chicken soup; the steamed sea bass with preserved olives, fresh yet not fishy, and the tender, delicate jade tofu. Paired with fragrant taro rice, and black bean lettuce to balance the richness, a cup of chrysanthemum tea finished the meal right. Unlike trendy restaurants, this place was mostly frequented by local regulars. When traveling to Singapore, besides Bak Kut Teh, you absolutely must treat yourself to this slow-cooked, hearty soup.

Had a fantastic, comforting meal at Tan Ser Seng Herbs Restaurant. The broth in the Premier Fish Maw & Abalone Soup is rich, aromatic, and deeply nourishing, filled generously with cordyceps flowers and goji berries. It’s smooth, deeply herbal without being bitter, and perfect for a cozy meal. The side dishes were equally impressive. The Signature Jade Tofu features a wonderfully crisp exterior that yields to a silky-soft interior, topped with a flavorful layer of spinach. The Aged Preserved Radish Omelette is fried to golden perfection with delightfully crisp edges, loaded with savory cai po, toasted sesame seeds, and fresh spring onions. For greens, the Vegetable in Herbal Sauce stays fresh and crunchy, elevated by a fragrant splash of herbal gravy, crispy fried shallots, and pork lard. Do not skip the Fragrant Yam Rice—it is cooked to perfection, savory, highly aromatic, and studded with actual pieces of yam and fried shallots, making it far superior to plain white rice. Overall, every dish hit the mark with authentic, traditional flavors and top-notch execution. The service was quick and attentive throughout. Highly recommended if you are looking for an authentic, high-quality herbal feast with family or friends. Will definitely return again soon!

This is the best chicken soup I've ever had in Singapore. Their fish maw chicken soup is my absolute favorite—loaded with collagen, fish maw, and goji berries. The flavor is just right, not too salty. Today, my friends from Taiwan visited, so we specially ordered three portions of chicken soup for takeout. While waiting, the staff (I guess the owner) even offered me some chilled chrysanthemum tea. I was so touched! 😍 Thank you, owner, and thank you to the efficient staff! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I received my takeout very quickly. It's amazing that the restaurant was packed while I was eating chicken soup at room temperature; there was even a queue for dine-in! Only a truly amazing chicken soup could create such a scene. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for truly authentic food! 💯 This is easily the best chicken soup in Singapore in my book. Their fish maw chicken soup is my absolute favorite—loaded with collagen, fish maw, and goji berries. The flavor is spot-on and not overly salty. With friends visiting from Taiwan today, I made a special trip to get three portions of chicken soup for takeout. While I was waiting, the staff (who I suspect is the owner) even treated me to an iced chrysanthemum tea. Such a heartwarming gesture! 😍 Huge thanks to the owner and the super efficient team. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I got my takeout in no time. Even without air conditioning, the place was completely packed with a queue for dine-in—it takes a genuinely exceptional chicken soup to draw a crowd like that in this heat! Highly recommended for anyone looking for wholesome, authentic food made with genuine ingredients.

First try for turtle soup, different from what I expect, very savoury taste. The ginseng black chicken soup had a very strong ginseng taste which I like. Came at dinner time, almost all the tables are occupied

Had a great lunch at Tan Ser Seng Herbal Soup Restaurant. This legendary Geylang soup spot has been serving herbal soup for decades, and now I finally understand why locals keep recommending it. We tried the special Mother’s Day set and every dish felt hearty and nourishing. The Chicken Soup was rich yet very light on the palate, with tender kampung chicken that fell off the bone easily. The steamed seabass with yellow chilli was incredibly appetising and paired perfectly with rice. I also loved the grilled king oyster mushrooms with scallion paste - simple but full of smoky flavour. To end the meal, the papaya dessert with peach gum, snow fungus and lotus seeds was comforting and not overly sweet. Their soups are clearly made with patience and tradition - you can taste the hours of slow simmering in every bowl. The restaurant was packed with locals even on a weekday, which says a lot. Definitely one of the most memorable herbal soup meals I’ve had in Singapore, and a place I’d gladly bring family and friends to again.

Delicious steamed fish with olives, completely boneless 👍 The black chicken soup was also delicious, and the turtle soup was quite good too. The preserved radish omelet was made by placing preserved radish on top of a fried egg 🤔
