We have eaten at Massimo’s several times on our holiday this year and last year. The food is awesome, and authentic Italian. Their ice cream bar at the front of the shop is always extremely busy at night, with about 30 flavours to choose from and so cheap. A baby cup with 2 flavours is only 20000 IDR - about $1.60ish AUD. Dining in you get complimentary nibbles. Best to book a table because they are always busy. The only downside is that it is extremely hot inside even though there are many ceiling fans. There is an outside area as well. Almost cooler to eat out there.

The ice cream is delicious and there are so many flavors to choose from. However, i think the service to local people needs to be improved, i don't know what's in the mind of the ice cream cashier staff when there are local people who want to TRY and BUY the ice cream. Are local people not allowed to eat the ice cream? or is there a difference in service to locals and foreigners? so that the service and friendliness turn into anger. This is what i experienced there yesterday. So it would be better to be friendly to everyone, if anyone asks a question, please answer with a good tone & behavior. Thank you.

Had lunch and more than a couple of scoops of their famous gelato. Angel hair vongole was very nice and the ossobuco was rich and tender. Got a bit too much at the end so was a bit overwhelmed. What was suprising was learning that the owner was so into magic! It was fun looking at the photos and trying to spot all the magic celebrities, being someone who is into the hobby too. Same that we didn't get any table magic and we had to leave on the Friday afternoon where there was supposed to be a magic show. Will certainly return next time!

This is one of the only places I wish I could give 6 ⭐️'s to. I've been coming for years and haven't ever heard anyone not raving about the food and atmosphere. In America theres an Italian restaurant every block (or seems like it) and you could go to 100 of them and they wouldn't even be in the same ballpark as Massimo's. Don't let the dinner wait time scare you, its 100% worth the wait. The Gelato line is constantly busy because its just as amazing. Take the walk, taxi, motor bike or plane ride for dinner. You won't regret it and will understand why this is always a option for dinner, even if you ate there the day before. The atmosphere is fantastic. Watching the chefs prepare and make the freshest pasta you have ever had and its always cooked perfectly!!!!! Huge wine pantry to select the perfect pairing to your meal but don't fill up too much, you have to save room for DESERT! Gelato or one of the other amazing deserts. I hate eating them because they're so beautiful looking and feel bad for devouring a beautifully mastered piece of art. Don't be surprised is Massimo himself stops by your table to check to make sure your meal was satisfying. If you're lucky he'll have some limoncello with him and offer to do a shot with you after dinner. Like I said at the beginning, he deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Came all the way here to celebrate my birthday on the 20th May 2026 because Hyatt didn’t offer a complimentary birthday cake for me after spending a good dinner there. Came all the way from Singapore to celebrate my birthday in Bali. Recommended by my friend to have the best tiramisu cake here at Massimo Gelato Restaurant at Sanur. After ordering a tiramisu cake with them. We also ordered dessert, gelato and cocktail. Surprisingly, the service crew acted very fast without telling them about my birthday. They gathered their staff together and sang me a happy birthday song in Bahasa Indo and served me a complimentary birthday cake. It’s surprisingly great service and I’m touched for the action. It makes my birthday a most memorable one! Highly recommended for their quick action and left a good customer experience and journey! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Still one of the best Italian Restaurant in Sanur, love thier Pizza. Good pizza base thin crust and nice topping, I did try their Prosciuto ham pizza, love it. Also try the Burata Salad, its good even though perhaps not the buffala one. Nice dressing Balsamic and Extra virgin olive oil. Good ambiance and good and attentive service. Dessert we took Gelato, a nit too seet for my taste but they have so many variation and its consider not expensive. Lucky that we took dine in otherwise we have to be queing very long to buy the gelato only. 😊👌

This place instantly transports you to a charming corner of Italy, right from the moment you step in. The atmosphere is lively and bustling, filled with the kind of energy that only comes from a restaurant serving genuinely good food. It’s often crowded, but in the best way possible—it feels like everyone is there because they know it’s worth it. One of the highlights here is definitely the gelato. It’s rich, creamy, and full of authentic flavor, making it the perfect way to end a meal. You can really taste the quality in every scoop. Beyond dessert, the food overall is impressive, which explains why the place is always packed with happy diners. The ambiance plays a big role in the experience. It truly feels like an Italian eatery, warm and inviting, with a vibrant buzz that never feels overwhelming. Even with the crowd, there’s a sense of comfort and enjoyment that makes you want to stay longer. Parking has improved a lot recently. It’s now more organized, even if you need to walk a short distance. Honestly, it doesn’t take away from the experience—it actually adds a small, pleasant transition before you arrive at the restaurant. What really stands out, though, is the service. The staff are consistently friendly, welcoming guests with genuine smiles. Their warmth makes the whole dining experience feel personal and memorable. It’s definitely a place you’ll want to come back to.

Come by to buy the Gelato. Lucky me the queue is not too crowd like it used to be. One thing that I impressed enough is the price that cheap enough for good gelato. Oh and I love the queue system that you must pay 1st and you have to wait the waiters to call your name then you can pick your Gelato. The choice is so many and all looks delicious. For the taste is quite good equal for the price and the hype. Will be coming again if i go to sanur next time.
