Flavours @ UTown

We went to this food court at the university cafeteria with some student friends from NUS. It's very convenient because the prices are student discounts, so cheaper than the average food court, and it's open daily from 11 am to 2 pm. We tried several different dishes; the signature Indonesian dish features amazing chicken. I highly recommend the stand in the middle that serves Muah Chee (mochi dough with sugar, soy powder, and peanuts, $3) and Popiah (rolls, very fresh, inexpensive, $2.50, and made to order). The Chor Fun stand (thick rice noodles) is also delicious.

(04/08/25) We're here fairly often and renovations were recently completed after a month. A couple stalls that we used to frequent has been replaced and I feel not for the better. The Japanese curry stall which was pretty good is gone as is the tenderfresh express. Fortunately a couple of our usual favourites, the [YongTauFoo] stall and the [MiniWok] stall are still there and [DanLao]. Tried the new stall, [Pondok Nasi Lemak] and it was meh. While the ayam berempah was eatable, it's a shadow of how great a ayam berempah could actually be. The rendang was unfortunate. I ate half and gave up. Flavours @ UTown is a fresh new vibe! With more food variety, cleaner tables and chairs, lunch just got an upgrade. There’s a new halal Nasi Lemak stall that is tempting me everyday and I made a mental note to try the baked nasi lemak on my diet cheat day! 😅 I also love that I can have my fave Koka Noodle any time now. Besides noodles, the same Koka stall sells incredibly tasty and hearty Cantonese chok (porridge). Now, I’m just waiting for my friends outside UTown to come and meet me for lunch. Serious misrepresentation by the Indian store in their menu. They have Plain Prata (1 pc) on the menu but you cannot order it. Minimum order they insist is 2 pieces. If that’s so, why put the single piece option on the menu?

Revisiting after it's renovation. Must try this mixed rice stall. Price of each item is reflected for transparency. Every dish tasted fresh and good. $6.20 for 4 items. Would love to visit again. Luckin coffee was great too!

This is referring to Haji Karim Indian Muslim Cuisine at the food hall. Don’t get me wrong, all the other stalls are actually pretty good! I ordered a chicken murtabak for lunch today’s at haji karim and was served the most horrible tasting murtabak as the eggs was cooked on top of soggy prata which tasted like soggy bread instead of prata. The cook doesn’t seem to have cooked a murtabak before!! I approached the person who took the order and said that this is horrible, he just shake his head and stare back at me. There were a few Indian students there who appears to have issues with their order as well and he just shake his head and wave them away. Please do not even give this stall a chance and I believe that this stall will close naturally from no business very shortly as the staff doesn’t seem to care or seem to understand how to cook simple Indian food like a murtabak!
