Bismillah Biryani NUS

Biryani... The rice must have a flavor of the spices to be nice. It's quite disappointing here. Not too sure if it is only for today, the rice taste like 75% pepper. The pepper is too overwhelming, can barely taste the original spices of Biryani that's supposed to be there. I would have given 1 Star, for the benefit of doubt that today they may have accidentally poured in too much pepper, I gave a 2 Star. I won't patron again, my tongue is still having a slight burning sensation... The chicken taste is good, portion for a $9 is good. $6 is enough for a small eater. Only a few tables available in the aircon room. It's hot if there's no breeze for the tables outside, no fans. Photo taken ard 2pm, lunch crowd is gone.

I ordered the chicken biryani! The service was very fast and the rice was fragrant and seasoned well. (I ordered the normal portion - a small, which was 8.10, and it was pretty generous!)

Had the young lamb biryani set and the meat was tender and fall off the bone. Meat quantity could have been more given it was a mid size upgrade order. Overall, food tastes good. Would be nicer if more affordable.

The chicken dum biryani was really delicious and the spiciness was moderate which is perfect. It would be great to have an option to choose the level of spice based on an individual’s preference and tolerance.

Went there to have young lamb (kid goat) biryani. The biryani was not even heated up, and the raita (curd sauce) that they served on the side had water floating on the top and the curd as a sediment at the bottom (I had to stir it myself to make it look edible). Such lousy service, when they charge 10 SGD for a small portion of biryani! It was not even worth 4 SGD to be honest. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, all she kept saying was, “If you had brought it to us, we would have changed it.” Did not feel sorry about the incident, did not offer a single apology. I don’t know what’s worse - the food or the customer service. If the restaurant can’t ensure quality in the evening because your staff are tired, don’t run it in the evening. People pay good money for the food.

I don't know if I came on a bad day and as a biryani enthusiast I don't post this lightly, but they asked for a review and so I want to say that I'd rank this *very* low among the hundreds of biryanis I've had in my lifetime. The rice has a one-dimensional flavour and the meat (they used 2 drumsticks) is incredibly tough and dry. Lastly, if you're used to biryanis coming with lots of rice, this place will disappoint you (unless you hate wasting rice.) I ate the fried onions, a few spoons full of rice and one drumstick, and I couldn't continue. I hope this place works on its recipe but judging from the many 5-star reviews, they might not care. All I know is that I've had much better biryani at all kinds of other places across this island, and I don't think I'll be back.
