I had a wonderful dining experience at South&East. The restaurant has a very elegant and relaxing atmosphere, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. The grilled dishes were flavorful and perfectly cooked, while the rice and side dishes complemented everything very well. I especially loved the creative combination of local flavors with a modern style. The staff were also friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. Overall, the quality of the food, service, and ambience exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend South&East to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable dining experience in Singapore.

A friend highly recommended South & East, and it certainly lives up to its reputation. The menu features creative, innovative dishes that pleasantly surprise the palate. My husband and I started with the rojak chicken wings—crispy, flavourful, and perfectly complemented by the tangy rojak sauce. The Wagyu beef stew is a must-try: incredibly tender and juicy, and easily one of the highlights of our meal. The potato salad was exceptionally smooth and well-balanced in flavour. We also enjoyed the claypot laksa rice with seafood, which was rich and comforting without being overwhelming. For dessert, both options were beautifully executed and memorable—the pandan mousse with coconut rum and gula melaka sago, as well as the Pulau Hitam cake with jackfruit and coconut dip, were creative and absolutely delightful. Service was excellent throughout. The staff were polite, attentive, and efficient in clearing plates, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back again soon.

This place is truly a hidden gem tucked within the National University of Singapore— a full service restaurant with excellent food and nice environment. The food is excellent, especially the meat dishes. The beef ribs are a standout—easily some of the best I’ve had in Singapore—tender, flavorful, and very satisfying. Other options like the grilled chicken, pork, and steak are just as impressive. Even the vegetable dishes are well done, full of flavor and not an afterthought. What’s particularly enjoyable is the style of cooking, blending Southeast Asian flavors with a Western twist, creating dishes that feel both comforting and creative. Despite the high quality, the restaurant keeps a casual and relaxed atmosphere. It’s also kid-friendly, making it a great option for families who want good food without a formal dining setting. Overall, it’s an unexpected find that delivers on both taste and experience—definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Loved the service and food! Came here for dinner with the family and really enjoyed the mix of Southeast Asian flavours in the dishes. What stood out for me was the Char grilled corn, Cauliflower with roasted corn sauce and Grilled cabbage with Kaffir lime sauce, as well as the Claypot rice with mushrooms. The atmosphere was also just nice, cozy while still feeling spacious. The service staff were also very attentive and accomdative to our needs. Highly recommend to come by for lunch or dinner if you're at NUS! Update - came back to try the other dishes, and the chicken thigh (with tamarind and chilli sauce) has to be one of the best dishes they have to offer. The meat is roasted nicely and still very juicy and tastes wonderful when paired with the sauce. This dish is a must order for me whenever I come back!

Tried the thai style pork with laksa rice. A very flavorful plate with additional laksa sauce on the side. The pork is cooked beautifully, perfect doneness (yes pork can be consumed with abit of pinkness, its all about internal temp). Brocolli was very sweet and addictive but I would personally have prefered if the smokiness could come through more. Rojak chicken wing gives similar mouth feel as having the dough fritter in rojak. Very tasty! Think it can be balanced with more acid, maybe if there can be some lime zest mixed into the sauce to counter the cloying nature of it. Friendly and fast service. Will come back to try more :)

Dinner at this Hidden Gem at NUS Campus ✨ Tucked inside Shaw Foundation Alumni House at NUS, South & East serves up quality charcoal-grilled and smoked meats layered with bold, Southeast Asian-inspired flavours. The place is run by husband-and-wife chef duo Shane Gan and Evelyna Wibawa and Shane is also a NUS Business School Alumni , who clearly put a lot of heart into curating their dishes. I had tried most of their dishes and tonight, I got their Thai Style Pork with Cucumber Salsa. This dish is so well executed and I am also offered a complimentary salad. This place is warm, with cosy vibes and good-quality food here.

Ordered a BBQ wagyu beef skewer ($16++) from the signature set lunch menu, and upgraded to Laksa rice (+$3) and added the honey jelly dessert with iced tea (+$5). The Beef Skewers were a bit chewy but the glaze on the meat was excellent and overall the skewers were pretty delicious. The slight heat from the laksa rice paired nicely with the beef. The sambal egg and cucumber salad while small did pack quite a flavourful punch. The biggest surprise to me was the dessert, as this relatively plain looking dish was delicious, the honey jelly and the tart sour plum granita providing a refreshing end to the meal. The staff were great too, friendly and quick to render service throughout the meal. The total came to just under $29, which is a bit steep for lunch, but I really enjoyed my meal here and look forward to coming back soon!

Been there several times since they opened at Alumnus building next to NUSS building. They serve Asian fusion food with very unique sauces and the food is appetising. Dinner is really good with their smoked beef ribs, claypot rice, fish, chicken and their curried flavour french fries makes you crave for them n goes so well with their craft beer. I love everything there so hard to choose my favourite. The ambience is cosy and great place for gathering. Love their private dining room!
