1. The beverage stall at this kopitiam has 2 counters (not just 1), for customers to order kopi. Rightfully, this shld make the Q move faster. But what is happening instead is that those ladies at the order counters (esply counter facing inwards at pic) are intentionally ignoring customers and work slow, so that these customers will then move to order from the other counter and their own counter will end up with less work. 2. I confronted one of the ladies on why the order counters ladies were behaving this way, and she just looked over to the other counter ladies and said "don't know why like this leh" (in chinese), and indirectly admited the counter ladies have problems working properly togather, and were purposely "pushing" customers to other counter to reduce work for themselves! 4. Bosses should take note of staff with such bad work ethics and attitude, and give jobs to others who are more willing to work, and not staff who "play around", at expense of customers. 5. I strongly advised against patronising places with such staff with such evil, bad attitude because then how can you trust these staff to handle food and drinks?!

Ordered the dang gui duck noodle and a roast chicken + roast meat rice. Good: - The duck noodles were pretty good, but the bones were a little crushed, perhaps the chopping wasn't done well - roast meat was tasty but not too fatty - chicken was boneless and tender The meal wasn't cheap, considering it was at a heartland food court, but still acceptable. Also bought the hot coffee from the drinks stall, which was pretty decent.

Kopitiam @ Compass One – Stylish Makeover, Same Old Problems Kopitiam @ Compass One has finally gotten the facelift it desperately needed. The new neon signage and modern finishes give the space a trendy, Instagram-friendly vibe, and the addition of new stalls adds much-needed variety to the lineup. Unfortunately, the makeover feels mostly skin-deep. The layout remains poorly planned, with narrow walkways that make navigating the food court frustrating—especially during peak hours. It often feels overcrowded and chaotic, and better crowd control or spacing would greatly improve the experience. Stalls Tried: 1. Putian Cuisine – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.8/5) A clear standout. The Xinghua Bee Hoon was clean, aromatic, and well-executed with good wok hei and zero greasiness. Easily comparable to established Putian restaurants. Fast and efficient service. 2. What The Fish – ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3.8/5) Fresh fish with customizable options. The mala broth was decent but lacked depth. Good, but not memorable. 3. 老凤记 Claypot Rice & Bak Kut Teh – ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) Disappointing. The “claypot” rice lacked both aroma and crispy crust, feeling more like a rushed rice bowl. Overhyped given its branding. 4. Japanese Cuisine – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) Well-marinated yakiniku beef, fluffy rice, and generous portions. Karaage was slightly over-fried but still acceptable. Solid value-for-money option. 5. Ha Lou Hokkien Mee – ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) Sambal fried rice was dry and lacked punch. Pork chop was small, chewy, and uninspiring. Didn’t showcase the stall’s potential. 6. Kopi Kiosk – ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) Mostly standard drinks, but the iced smoothie teh with grass jelly was smooth and refreshing. Bubur cha cha was underwhelming and lacked coconut richness. 7. Dan La (formerly Egg Talk) – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) A noticeable improvement after the operator change. The cheesy luncheon meat egg wrap worked surprisingly well and was satisfying. 8. Beradik by Western Boy – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Reliable comfort Western food. Generous portions, consistent execution, and one of the few stalls I’d return to without hesitation. 9. Hao Jia Ban Mian – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) Handmade noodles were smooth and slightly tangy in a flavourful soup. Comforting and well-cooked, though the ingredients felt rather minimal. Service (Major Letdown) Service was consistently poor. Many staff appeared disengaged, unfriendly, and uninterested in customer experience. This wasn’t an isolated incident—it’s an issue I’ve repeatedly encountered across multiple Kopitiam outlets and it significantly drags down the overall experience. Final Verdict Kopitiam @ CompassOne looks better than ever, but operational issues remain. While a few stalls shine, poor layout planning and weak service standards prevent it from being truly enjoyable. A visual upgrade alone isn’t enough—better crowd management and customer service are long overdue.

Ordered at King Dae Bak Korean, 1) there was no one at the cashier, we waited. Then a chinese lady came out with an annoyed face. We ordered immediately whilst she gave impatient attitude and showing frustration. 2) she then slammed the order tag on the desk like venting her anger. I had to tell her to calm down. 3) disgusting behavior, we are paying for the food and not begging for it. Last time will try here.

The mixed veg rice stall has completely made up pricing. The attached picture was 7.80 (1 meat and 2 veg)- worth 4.00 on a good day anywhere else. As other patrons have mentioned, they have some excuses when you ask why it's like that. Avoid or get ripped off. The advertised pricing is only applicable for some predetermined set, which is not communicated in any way. You end up paying more for mixed veg rice than specialised stalls. Disappointing Edit: this is only the mixed veg stall. Rest of the stalls, I do not know about

He Jia mixed rice have some bad service and pricing. I ordered the broccoli and the guy with the tattoo on his arm only gave me 4 pieces of broccoli+ cauliflower......4 pieces was $1.8......and that guy attitude when I asked him was like he didn't care or doesn't care to rectify this. By right the price for 2 vege and 1 meat is $4.7, becoz the broccoli is additional $1.8, total became $5.6, I'm ok with the pricing, but the amount he gave was unacceptable.

I ordered sliced beef with egg claypot rice from this stall. I like the crispy, caramelized, and slightly charred rice crust. The crunchy layer is aromatic and savory. Although the beef slices have more fat than meat and the rice is a little oily, it's to my liking.
