Possibly the best Chai Tow Kueh in Singapore. The black version is sweet, salty, umami and peppered with crisp edges from being fried on the first wok. You can tell that their carrot cake is homemade because the chunks are soft and melt in your mouth. Honestly worth a try when you’re in Newton!

Order exactly 5.30pm when they are ready for business, order came fast, I feel the portion of white carrot cake is little for $7. But the taste is good! The oyster omelette $10 is delicious and crispy. And the oyster is big and juicy. If you order late after 6 plus, be prepared to wait long. As I see their queue number is many always.

Ordered takeaway of oyster omelette. Chilli sauce is amazing! It’s the tangy type of chilli that pairs perfectly with the dish. Omelette has a nice wok hei aroma. Crispy and seasonings were on point. For $8, there were generous amount of oysters. Let it swim in the chilli for best flavours. Service wise, was told that the wait is ~30 mins. Did a check slightly past the 30 mins mark and aunty was so nice to rush the order and politely apologised for the wait. Will definitely be back again :)

Just had Heng Fried Carrot Cake at Newton for the first time in over 20 years. I used to come here regularly for takeaway back then, but moved away and haven't been back since. The amazing thing is the stall owner still remembers me after two decades. The fried oyster omelette is still as tasty as I remembered, plump, and crispy, eggy edges.

No frills, black or white (or both) fried carrot cake. They are priced at S$5, $7, $9, with the mixed plate starting at $8. The chunks of carrot cake (steamed white rice cakes) vary in sizes when cooked, allowing you to taste the softness and lightness from the larger pieces, and enjoying the smaller ones coated with more egg and seasoning (such as garlic and pickled radish). While the fragrance of egg is more prominent in the white version, the black one cooked with sweet dark soy sauce is a must-try. Left to caramelise in and develop a slight char on the wide pan, the dark sauce takes the classic carrot cake to another satisfying level of eating. The sambal chili on the side may be necessary for spice lovers, but is also negligible for those who appreciate the dish as it is. When dining at peak meal hours, come prepared to wait up to 45 minutes after placing your order and getting a buzzer. You can practically share another meal or dish or have a look at the many other stalls at this popular hawker centre.

here’s the mixed fried carrot cake at $8 rather expensive and it’s in a touristy hawker centre, but still my favourite! after you order, they’ll give you a beeper to let you know when to collect it

We waited around 30mins after we finish a few round of other dishes. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. this is what lacking on the oyster omettle that's available out there. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ A good 4 stars Come on down try it yourself and share your experience with us Follow us for a gastronomic experience and discover the world finest in its purest form

The oyster omelette is crisp, made with little to no tapioca starch, resulting in a clean, crispy egg texture without the usual gooey, chewy texture. It’s well done, though not quite my personal preference for Orh Jian. Long wait.
