Geylang 29 Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee

Many stalls at East Coast Lagoon selling this dish but I went with a trusted brand in Geylang 29 to satisfy my cravings on a Tue night. Been many years since I had them and the memorable taste of Charcoal Fried Noodles, and prawn stocked infused noodles with a hint of "wok hei" was evident again tonight. I had ordered other dishes from other stalls and came back almost 15mins later to collect a plate that was still very hot when handled. Glad I had my fix.

East Coast Lagoon Food Centre. Is a legendary hawker centre by the East Coast seashore. This HKM is A third generation of the first original stall at Gelyang. Charcoal wok hek can be stronger abit. The chilli is nice. Some how, a missing taste from the original stall. Can be better. But nothing goes wrong for charcoal cooked food.

The portion of the hokkien mee is big. The prawns and squid are very fresh. Love the chili too.

The portion was huge, packed with seafood, and topped with a glorious amount of pork lard. Because it’s cooked over charcoal, that wok hei smoky flavor is incredibly distinct, keeping the noodles rich and moist. It’s heavy, it’s comforting, and it pairs perfectly with a cold glass of sugarcane juice. Good food and good service! Very fragrant prawn noodle

World class! Good portion with fresh prawns and squids. Wok hei is superb. We finished our plate in 5 minutes! What a treat, especially for a dish that’s difficult to do well. We are lucky to be able to enjoy such unique taste close to home and near the relaxing beach.

Tried this on a Sunday for lunch and the stall was open! Hokkien mee had wok hey 👍
