8/10. This review might be a bit biased because I tie a lot of memories and hold a lot of nostalgia for this place. But genuinely though, I believe that Chai Chee Pork Porridge has some of the best porridge I've tried. I got the 'Pork Porridge' with added egg. The porridge itself is extremely silky, viscuous and sticky; the rice grains have manage to break down and release its starch to form what feels like could be a sauce. What I like to do is mix the egg in to add additional creaminess and richness to the dish. But the highlights of the 'Pork Porridge' are the handmade meatballs. They are so soft and tender, and are meaty. They hold a strong saltiness that contrasts well with the light porridge. However, eaten on their own, they may indeed prove too salty; I personally enjoyed this. The pork slices were well-marinated too, and it really goes to show how much care and effort was put into this dish. My only cons are that the youtiao are rather dry and hard, lacking the fluffiness I'd expect from good youtiao. Additionally, I find that over time, the 'Pork Porridge' can get too rich, especially with the added egg. However, I think this can be counter-balanced if you decide to add some white pepper yourself, or ask for more green onions.

There are two stalls at Blk 85 with the same name, Chai Chee porridge. The one further down of the alley operated by a middle age male and lady is quite bad. I ordered for take away and upon returning home, I found strands of hair in my porridge 🤮 I didn’t just find one, but found two long strand of hair. Had to discard the porridge. Can you all kindly ensure the hygiene standard is kept up to standard with proper handling of food, thank you.

Ordered the century egg porridge with pork. It’s pretty good. The owner however is very snobbish and arrogant. My buzzer rang so I went to collect my food, he said not ready. After 10mins, I go back and ask again. He just ignored me, I go back and sit. Finally the buzzer rang again. This stall can’t cope with the crowd despite having like 4 staff

One of the best porridge in Singapore. Still maintain their standard after so many years of business and the price is still market rate. During peak hour expect at least 30 minutes waiting time.
