This is a famous Bak Kut Teh restaurant. Apparently, there are Singaporean and Malaysian styles of Bak Kut Teh, and this restaurant serves the Singaporean style, which locals say is the classic taste. When I tried it, it was very tasty with a good amount of pepper. The soup is refillable, so if you order rice, bread, or noodles in addition to the Bak Kut Teh, you'll be more satisfied. The locals at the next table ordered noodles, and they looked delicious.

I was a bit annoyed when I first tasted the food. Many bloggers and YouTubers had introduced it as a great restaurant, and while personal tastes may vary, I didn't find it delicious. However, after adding red chili peppers and a slightly spicy sauce, I understood why it was recommended as a famous eatery. If you visit Singapore, I think it is worth trying at least once.

Yesterday, I had lunch at a 50-year-old restaurant famous for being visited by Chow Yun-fat, and today I visited the Songpa main branch. Fortunately, the wait wasn't too long... However, the problem was the extremely hot interior. They were cooling it with a few small air conditioners and fans... but with all the doors open... It was a situation where the air conditioning wasn't working at all. Nevertheless, thinking that I was eating at a famous restaurant recognized by Michelin, I endured it a little and started eating. I ordered the famous Batutte, a large size. It tasted good. However, it wasn't particularly different from the place I went to yesterday. The problem, though, was that shortly after I started eating, sweat began pouring down due to the hot indoor air and the hot broth... It became a situation where I couldn't tell if I was having a meal or undergoing endurance training. Of course, at this point, the taste didn't really matter anymore. ㅠㅠ I barely managed to finish at least the meat I ordered, and since I had used up the wet towel they initially gave me, I asked for another one... But they asked for money... money... For reference, they don't even provide a single tissue separately. At that moment, I decided to leave a Google review, something I rarely do these days. Even one star feels too generous. First, I stepped outside to head to the mall across the street to cool off. As soon as I crossed the crosswalk, I saw another Bak Kut Teh place. I felt envious (?) of the people dining there, enjoying the cool air conditioning. It seems the Michelin inspectors dined there during the cool winter (?).

Small flagship shop without aircon! However it always have super super super long queue so decided to try since I was in the area. The queue moves quite fast and I was there on a rainy evening, so it was less crowded. Have to say the standards are consistent and really don’t have to go the flagship to eat. Can just go any of the shops! They will be cooler and shorter q. But if wan the shophouse vibe, just come during off peak hours, shd be fine! My go to always the premium ribs, youtiao, one veg. My friend loves the pork trotter because it’s deboned! First time I had it and woah, not bad

The soup looks quite light in color at first, but don’t be fooled by its appearance. The peppery taste is actually quite strong and gives a warm, comforting kick from the very first sip. The stewed pork ribs are extremely soft and tender, falling off the bone easily and soaking up all the rich flavors of the soup. What makes it even better is the balance of taste. The spice is noticeable but not overwhelming, and it blends well with the deep, savory broth. Every spoonful feels warm and satisfying, making the soup very enjoyable to eat. Even though we had already eaten earlier in the day, the taste of this soup was so good that it made us want to keep eating. It felt hearty and comforting, and it gave us a sense of warmth and energy after the meal. Overall, it is a very satisfying soup that is both flavorful and comforting. It is the kind of dish that makes you feel full in a good way and leaves a lasting impression.

Be prepared to wait in line as it gets really crowded, but trust me, the quality of the food makes it 100% worth it. The Bak Kut Teh here has a very unique and light tasting broth—plus, they offer unlimited soup refills! I also had the pork intestines, which were cooked perfectly, not greasy, and the portion size was just right for a solo diner. A special shoutout to the staff who were extremely friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Highly recommend, and I’ll definitely return!

On the way back to the hotel, I passed by Bak Kut Teh and had to stop for a bowl. The flavor wasn't as peppery and spicy as before, which was great. The meat was still tender, and it definitely tasted best with chili sauce. The soup was delicious, and you could even get refills. The seats were conveniently located by the roadside, but in Singapore's weather, it's best to sit indoors. Avoid peak dining hours to avoid the queues.

The Bak Kut Teh broth was truly rich and delicious, and the pork ribs were stewed until incredibly tender and flavorful – its reputation for deliciousness was well-deserved! Unfortunately, the venue was rather cramped, and there were quite a few termites flying around during the meal. Several times I even bumped into the soup! The entire dining experience could be described as "enjoying delicious food + frantically dodging them!" However, overall, the meal was still quite good!
