It’s been years since my last visit to Nakhon Kitchen, and I’m happy to report that the food standards haven’t dropped a bit. I arrived at 5:00 PM and was seated immediately, though I’d definitely recommend coming during off-peak hours like this, as the queues during peak times are legendary.
The ambiance is spot on; Thai music, Thai servers, and condiments right on the table. It feels very authentic, like stepping into a local eatery in Bangkok.
What I Ordered ($17 total):
• Basil Chicken Rice: Very tasty and hit the spot. My only minor gripe was the fried egg; the yolk was fully cooked/dry, whereas I was hoping for that classic runny yolk.
• Tom Kha Soup: Absolutely delicious. It was savory, creamy, and not overly spicy. I polished off every drop! The fried fish and prawns were fresh, though there was only one prawn in the bowl.
• Thai Green Milk Tea: A perfect, refreshing companion to the meal.
The Verdict:
For $17, the quality and portion sizes are excellent. It’s clear why this place remains a staple for Thai food lovers. Despite the small "egg situation" and the single prawn, the overall flavors and experience were fantastic.
Pro Tip: Get there before the dinner rush to skip the line! I’ll definitely be back.
