Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake

Oyster Omelette. Oyster fried with scrambled eggs if I may. Was able to take a picture. I am a big seafood person and been craving oyster since it is very expensive in US. Thats why this place was on our list because I really wanted to try it. I hope it was more seasoned, it is a lil greasy for me though I know Chinese cuisine is more salty and oily. But maybe your experience is better than mine. Still need to try to see it for yourself. Clean, open outdoor seating and the locals are very kind. Older couple did not mind us sharing a table with them. So sweet.

I tried the oyster cake from Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake and really enjoyed it. The crust was crispy and golden, while the filling was flavourful with a nice mix of oyster, minced meat, and fresh ingredients. Each bite had a satisfying contrast of textures, and the cake wasn't overly greasy. Overall, it's a delicious traditional snack that's worth trying if you're visiting Maxwell Food Centre.

Just as Michelin selected means, this place simply does oyster pancakes well. Nice snack that's texturally interesting to quickly grab prior to and bite on while lining up for other popular places in Maxwell. The pancakes are constantly being fried fresh and quickly served piping hot making it a great snack/appetizer to wet your appetite. It can be a little too savoury after a few bites since it does not inherently come with something spicy/sour to offset the grease and the salinity, but I’d still get it again (just maybe not two to eat by myself). I’d imagine it’s a fantastic dish to have with a cup of hot tea.

My new favourite - I had this for the first time this morning (how did I not have this earlier?), and immediately returned to dapao another two home. Will air-fry to bring back the crispiness at home. Freshly fried on the spot. Very flavourful fillings of oyster and minced pork. I’m going to pre-order the next time I host a party. Much more interesting than sliders. Criticism: you need to walk at least a thousand steps to burn off the calories…Then again, if you’re going to consume calories, don’t waste it on bland food, use the quota on this delicious oyster cake :)

It used to be even better. The Fu Chao Oyster Cake was once plumper, juicier, and beautifully golden — not so brown or charred. Although deep-fried, it used to have that perfect crisp crunch on the outside and moist texture inside, with a lovely hint of peanut that tied everything together. This time, it felt a little thinner and less moist, and the texture wasn’t quite as crunchy as before. I’m not sure what changed, but it doesn’t taste exactly like it used to. That said, it’s still tasty — the flavor remains comforting and true to tradition, and it’s still one of the few places that keeps this nostalgic snack alive. For the price, it’s fair and satisfying. I just hope they bring back that old magic that made it truly unforgettable.

This stall is one of the last handful of hawkers in Singapore still selling the traditional snack from Fuzhou, China. Oyster cake has a thin slightly crisp browned crust filled with minced pork, small prawns, small oysters and chopped coriander. It tastes mildly savory sweet from the moist fillings with a bit of crunch and nuttiness from the couple of peanuts studded on the crust.

This stall belongs to one of my old neighbors’s relative Patronize the stall whenever I go to Maxwell Missed it much as it’s one of my childhood favorites There are times I went down but the stall is close After the owner’s daughter took over,it still maintained its original flavor,hot ,crispy and tasty Unfortunately ever since it turned Michelin,standard seems to drop I went there with my sister but missed the mum only to be greeted by an young Indian guy who speaks fluent Mandarin.Impressed and all ready to try it with my sister with great enthusiasm,to my disappointment,the oyster pancake was dark and not crispy.Doesn’t taste as good as it once was. Sometime later saw their interview and understand why. Still I personally feel what his mum says is right.Preserve the authenticity in order to maintain its heritage. This is something that is found in Singapore,why let it change to suit foreigners’ taste bud?
