I'm usually not a fan of intestines because I'm super sensitive to the smell but these were cleaned really well and braised really well until a nice tender yet chewy texture. The braised pork trotter also had a nice braised flavour and was nicely melt in your mouth. The bowl of kway is huge but is a manageable portion. Would definitely revisit with their generous portions and great flavour.

Recently added the Bak Kut Teh is really good. Can feel they put in effort and the soup base is creamy pepperish. Really worth to try. The other experience I have and decided to give 5 stars is they have improved their service and they allow to add more soup. Keep it up! Dine in on 26-09-2026 735pm

Lao San Kway Chap is known for its traditional Teochew style braised pig organs/粿汁 & pig organs soup/猪杂汤. Ordered the Signature Kway Chap Set for 1 pax at S$5.80, which came with braised pork belly, large intestine head/大肠头, small intestines/小肠, tau kwa/豆干, & half a boiled egg. The silky smooth rice sheets were served in a soy based herbal broth. The braising sauce still had that rich herbal taste, & the offal was properly cleaned with no unpleasant smell. But somehow, it just doesn’t taste as flavourful & fragrant as before. The S$5.00 pig organs soup standard has also dropped. The broth tasted rather plain & lacked the usual tangy depth & natural sweetness from the salted vegetables. Nowadays, there’s no longer a long queue here even on weekends. Probably due to their rapid expansion across Singapore, which spreads out the customer flow, along with inconsistent quality control at the AMK outlet.

The taste is moderate, tasty, and good for satisfying hunger.

The gravy is a bit sweet, and a portion for two people is considered good.

Lao San has been a long time favourite in AMK but it's best days seem to be behind. Revisited recently and found the stall to be surprisingly quiet during weekday lunch time. Some of the familiar old staff are not around anymore. The kway chap is still pretty good, but the garlic fragrance used to be much stronger back in the days. Kway now comes in default size in a big bowl. For 2-person set at $13.90 (in 2025), I think the price and quantity are still very reasonable. Enjoyed the kway chap and the nostalgia dining here.

Beautiful bowl of kway with just the right amount of herbal-ness in the soup. And the kway is nicely thin as well, translucent even. Love the ingredients, which were very well braised, especially the big intestines and if I really have to nitpick, if the pork belly was a tad softer, it would be a perfect bowl of heartiness in the morning!
