Hakka Leipopo 客家擂婆婆 @ Anchorvale Village

Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre. Such a good place to go to for a hearty post-workout meal, especially after a cycle and a swim at the nearest ActiveSG outlet in Sengkang. But this review for that sports center is for another day. Nonetheless, this thunder tea rice was superb when I first tried it as a form of early lunch. And it was so good that I decided to purchase two set As for myself and my father for today's lunch. Plus the stallholder was also very kind as well. ⚡ 🍵 🍚 I look forward to the day when I can return to the hawker center to have that again alongside my entire family. Because I always like to witness the reactions of their faces towards marvelous food. 🤭

The food was good and I like it. The soup was good too. However the attitude of the staff wasn't very good. He did things so fast and without any smiley face. The place was not even packed but he did my order so fast until there was a mistake in my payment. I had to go back again to tell the guy that he charged me an additional $8plus via my fairprice app when it was supposed to be 10cent as I paid by CDC. The rice was good as mentioned. However the ytf was oily and so cold. Even though I just bought when I stay opp, I had to heat up the ytf in air fryer. When I bought it was already so cold to begin with. In addition, not sure if we need to take the utensils and chilli ourselves but I assumed it was inside but it wasn't. In terms of just the rice I would recommend. But not the service.

The taste of the leicha is not as grassy so it’s good for people who want to try leicha. The fried Hakka TYF is quite good, generous meat filling. Good for sharing as can be quite heavy.

The male staff’s attitude is questionable. I asked to help cut the Yong Tau hoo into half. He impatiently cut them and remark that during busy time, they dont entertain just request. I was the only person in the queue.

Thunder Tea Rice comprises a bowl of green tea soup with a variety of toppings such as peanuts, sesame seeds, pickled radish, tofu, and finely-chopped veg (kailan, long beans, cabbage). You can add Yong Tau Foo ingredients too (e.g. eggplant, bittergourd, tau kwa, tau kee.), or order YTF by itself. From $5 Set A ($8.30) is lei cha + 3 pc of YTF. Set B ($11.70) is lei cha + 7 pc of YTF. Parking - There is a MSCP right inside Anchorvale Village. Kids playground is located on Level 4 and can be reached via stairs from level 3.

The stuffed tofu was very dark and dry, as if it had been fried many times...

I absolutely love HAKKA LEI CHA! It’s healthy, yet incredibly delicious. What I love most about this stall is the addition of fried tiny shrimp—it takes the flavor to a whole new level! Honestly, the best I've had in Singapore so far, haha.

I'm typing this as I eat my takeaway Set A at home - even after an hour's journey, the lei cha is tasty at room temperature. The paste seems to be of a different consistency for takeaway (more viscous than dine-in). Stall owners are friendly - for Set A you can choose 1 item from each of the display racks. Their recommended tau kwa, brinjal and tau kee was yummy. I'm quite new to lei cha - this is only my second time having it. I like the version here as it's not heavily spiced. If you're new to lei cha you'll definitely like this! Look forward to returning again 😀
