Birds of Paradise Gelato Boutique - Jewel

First order of business upon landing in Singapore and clearing immigration was heading straight to Birds of Paradise at Jewel Changi! I’ve been craving their Roasted Sesame ice cream, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I visited around 11:30 AM on a Tuesday, so there was luckily no line at all. They accept credit card payments, making the transaction quick and seamless. Tip: From my previous experience, the lines can get incredibly long during peak hours, so timing your visit right makes a huge difference!

Visited the Jewel branch on August 27 (around 8.30pm till 8.40). If you want to experience what I would describe as “Karen-style” service, you can try the Jewel branch. This is purely based on my personal experience today. What made the experience even more disappointing was when I used a Grab voucher. The voucher stated that it was for a **classic flavour**, but the terms and conditions did not clearly specify which flavours were considered “classic” or excluded. When I asked about it, the experience made me feel as though I was being treated differently simply because I was using a voucher—as if I was eating for free. I do understand that vouchers have terms and conditions, and I accept that I should have clarified the details before purchasing. However, if certain flavours are excluded, I believe this should be clearly stated in the voucher’s T&Cs rather than leaving customers to discover the “unwritten T&Cs” at the counter. Hopefully, the voucher terms can be made clearer in future so other customers won’t have the same experience.

When I joined the queue, I was the only customer waiting. There were three staff members serving a single family who was testing flavors. Instead of breaking away to clear the line, the staff were laughing and chatting with the customer, completely lacking any situational awareness while I was left standing there. I eventually had to speak up and ask how much longer I would have to wait. To make matters worse, after I placed my order and paid, the staff questioned whether I had actually made payment because their system was slow to process it. I was forced to pull up my PayLah! transaction history and point it out to them. To be ignored, made to wait, and implicitly questioned over a double scoop of gelato was deeply insulting. I submitted feedback to their management detailing this experience, only to receive a completely tone deaf response: a WhatsApp message telling me to show the message to their staff for a free scoop of ice cream! As if I was just complaining to get free ice-cream . When I told them how insulting that offer was, and asked why I would want to return to the store just to show the staff my complaint, they simply sent a generic template reply saying they respect my decision to avoid their store. Dismissive customer service on-site, followed by robotic, fake apologies from management . There are plenty of other great gelato options at Jewel, and I certainly won't be back. Actually there are two others gelato at level 4 and their ice cream taste way better! Regret buying the chrysanthemum with chocolate chips weeks ago .from Bird of Paradise. Bought a pint of that and a pint of Gianduja and omg!! couple of days later , I took the chrysanthemum out to eat and it taste like milk and water !! extremely diluted! 🙄

Qistina was patiently serving me and gave me several testers. Thank u qistina i appreciate it. The other workers were also very nice. I bought the hazelnut gelato it was very creamy and delicious. A little pricey but worth!

Floral fragrance and fruity punch, ain'yingly sweet and a must-have at Jewel Changi. A Singaporean ice cream you absolutely must try.

Had a great experience at Birds of Paradise in Jewel Changi Airport! We ordered the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut and Dark Chocolate Sorbet, and both were absolutely delicious. The Dark Chocolate Hazelnut was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with a nutty flavor, while the Dark Chocolate Sorbet was intensely chocolatey yet surprisingly refreshing. The quality of the ingredients really shines through in every bite. The queue was quite long when we arrived, but surprisingly it moved very quickly, making the wait much shorter than expected. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere made it a lovely place to enjoy a sweet treat while exploring Jewel. Definitely worth a visit for ice cream lovers!
