From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, we were greeted with genuine warmth and smiling faces that carried us seamlessly to our table. The service throughout the evening was outstanding — attentive, intuitive, and perfectly paced. Every dish arrived at just the right moment, allowing us to enjoy each course in a relaxed, natural rhythm. We started with the tuna tartare, which was excellent: beautifully balanced in flavour and texture, with elegant bite-sized portions that hit the perfect note. The wood-roasted scallops (a special) were magnificent, with a lovely play of acidity that really brought out the natural sweetness of the seafood. These two dishes together make a wonderful beginning to the meal. Our mains kept the momentum going strong. Both the BBQ octopus and the Pan Roasted Barramundi were cooked with real precision and care. The roasted corn with butter and parmesan is an absolute must — sweet, smoky, and utterly addictive. We also loved the local favourite, Jagung Bakar, which brings that classic beachside flavour everyone enjoys. To end the night, we had the Juanjo Cheesecake with smoked blueberries and whipped mascarpone. A beautiful, memorable end to the evening. It had been two years since our last visit, and we were delighted to find the quality and consistency still top notch. Every plate is clearly prepared with pride and love. This is a restaurant that earns its loyal following. Highly recommended.

We order a few entrees, one main and one dessert. The pretzel with labneh was ok, the pretzel itself is very good. The roasted pumpkin is not amazing or special, just taste like homemade pumpkin. Tuna tartar was ok, nothing special about it. Pan roasted barramundi plain again, the mash doesn't tasted as what they described as garlic potato. The bone marrow was covered by a layer way too salty that covered the flavour completely. We had the special dessert that was shelter banoffee pie with banana, walnut sponge, banana butterscotch and tahini gelatto, none of those flavours except for the banana were noticeable. Sometimes is better to keep a low profile on the selection of the menu than become too ambitious with something that you can't achieve.

Food was delicious and the flavors were great, especially the grilled chicken & the pretzel with muhammara. However almost every dish was extremely oily , not just rich but the kind of oiliness that literally coats your lips and leaves you feeling quite sluggish afterwards. I think the food would actually taste even better if they toned the oil down a bit, because the quality and flavors are already there. Still had a good experience overall, but I think with less oil it would be great!

We traveled 30 minutes from our accommodation to dine at Shelter, and it was the best decision. Even for a Thursday night, the restaurant was buzzing with a steady flow of people still arriving when we left at 10 PM. The food was incredible, the pretzel and lamb flatbread were great starters, and the rib fillet steak was perfectly crispy and packed with flavour. Service was on point; the staff were professional and clearly explained all the dishes to us. For desert you have the the apple crumble, it was served in a cast iron and was just perfection! Highly recommend making the trip here!

I visited with a large group. Reservations highly recommended. All of the menu items I tried here were crafted with care and were memorable as one of the best meals during 12 days in Bali. My group had family style dining so I've tried more than 10 menu items including their great desserts. This is a must visit location.

Service is friendly and welcoming, and the staff makes a genuine effort to ensure guests feel comfortable. It can get a bit busy at times, which may lead to a short wait, but it’s a testament to how popular the place is. A great spot for a laid-back dinner or a special evening with friends. Definitely worth a visit when in Bali.

Shelter, Bali: Shelter has become one of the quintessential must-dine spots in Bali, serving up middle eastern and Mediterranean fare. On a Saturday, it is a soft glow in the dark-lit street, the din of the multitudinous diners punctuates the otherwise rather quiet street. The star of their stage is their wood oven. Don’t let their open-air, down-tempo ambiance fool you – seats turn over as fast as the breakneck speed which dishes are served. It’s as if they know which are the crowd favourites – eggplant, scallops, octopus, tuna tartare on black wafer, salmon. A good hallmark of a chef is how he treats his vegetables. Eggplant emerges as the stunner with the lovely flavours of the wood oven, the melt-in-your mouth texture and the caramelized honey sauced with chilli. This incredible playful concoction leaves you wanting more. Scallops end on a high sea salt note – the pretty platter is a sight to behold too. Salmon was well pan fried and bedded on a smooth mash. Tuna tartare on wafer was beautiful and palatable. My son arranged a birthday cake (note that they don’t offer birthday cakes on the house) of their dessert extraordinaire – honeycomb chocolate. There were so many intriguing layers – rich honeycomb, ice cream sandwiched between thick fudge brownie slabs all looking like an ice cream sandwich. It was only an hour of dine but things move so fast here – the next thing you know, you’re exiting on a highly satisfied note. #eatstylishtravelstylish

I’ve been to this restaurant before so I had high hopes and my gosh did it disappoint. We spent 1.9Mil and didn’t eat a single item of food that tasted good. The pork belly was insanely fatty - none of the fat rendered properly, the scallops were the size of a 5 cent piece and had no flavour, the chicken was so dry we couldn’t eat it and when the waitress took our food away didn’t question why we didn’t eat it. I mentioned as she removed the plate it was insanely dry and she ignored me. The potato’s were sub-par and the carrots were virtually a dessert. It was alot of money for a very average meal and will not be returning. Plenty of other restaurants around that won’t break the budget that have alot more flavour.
