Only remembered to take a photo when i was almost done with the tow kwar pop ($4.50 for 3). That's how delectable they were. I love the grilled smell and the crunch that the tow kwar develops after being grilled. Imagine 3 pockets of vegetarian goodness stuffed into tow kwar in stuffed pita bread style. Yum! My parents loved to buy this when i was a kid and i never understood why. Now that i am almost 50, i finally understand that sometimes the simple things done super well is just the best thing to have.

Have tried this Tau Kwa Pok stall many years old but never got to review it. It hasn’t changed through the years. The tau pok is freshly grilled and nicely stuffed with cucumber and bean sprouts covered in sweet rojak prawn paste sauce and sprinkled with finely ground peanuts. Was nice and crunchy to the bite. Crispy on the outside. The Rojak prawn paste sauce used is flavourful and the chilli lends a sweet tangy touch. The garnishing of apple, turnip and slice mango makes a refreshing side. You have the choice of add one like you tiao, extra sauce. $4.50/$5 options.

Rojak in its truest, most glorious form! This plate is a beautiful chaos of textures and flavours that somehow come together in perfect harmony. The crunch of barbecued crispy cutterfish, fried dough (youtiao) and crispy fried bean curd (tow kua) meets the refreshing bite of cucumber, apple, and pineapple. Everything is generously coated in a rich prawn paste sauce, with a kick of chilli on the side if you’re feeling adventurous. The crushed peanuts sprinkled on top add just the right nuttiness, while the shaved cuttlefish and fried crackers bring extra crunch. Every bite is sweet, savoury, tangy, and just a little spicy — a quintessential taste of Singapore that balances tradition with boldness. If you’ve never had rojak, this Singaporean traditional dish is a must-try for the way it captures the soul of local street food: messy, vibrant, and unforgettable.

Added another Michelin hawker stall to my list! $4.50 for 3 pieces of Tow Kwar — not exactly great value. They were toasted to perfect crispiness and generously stuffed with fillings. The mangkuang and apple added a nice touch of sweetness and crunch. Got to dip them in the sauce and mix it with the chilli. Service was quick and there was no queue at all during lunch. While not a staple, it’s good accompanying side for your main dish. Highly recommended!

Miserable portions, I requested for youtiao only no fruits and add youtiao, totalled up to 6 dollars. End up the food came with only minuscule amount of youtiao with a ton of vegetables. After questioning them the lady said it’s correct they gave me a little vegetable add on. But please take a look at the photo, such a large amount of vegetables and little to no youtiao 🤔

Ate this since young even when it was at the same location but the old market. Finally reviewed it after about 30 years of eating it. Today's food was quite bad. I added You Tiao but it was so little. And worst of all, it was not as crunchy as it used to be! Soggy and sad. Felt that it was not grilled enough.

Personally, its not bad but average to me. About the Michelin's nod? Not too sure. +one star for how meticulous the takeaway was packed. Items remained fresh and crispy.
