This time, I had Ippudo for brunch at Clarke Quay. It was a simple meal: a bowl of ramen and some snacks. No particular plan, but it was quite satisfying. The ramen arrived piping hot, with a milky white broth that looked rich but wasn't greasy at all; the texture was smooth and natural, not heavy. The thin noodles absorbed the broth well, remaining springy and not mushy. The chashu (barbecued pork) was slightly oily, tender but not falling apart, and the combination of seaweed and wood ear mushrooms created a balanced flavor. The small bowl for the kids had a lighter broth, with corn, fish cake, and half an egg in a bunny-shaped bowl—it looked perfect for them. The gyoza were grilled on a teppanyaki grill, crispy on the bottom, thin-skinned, and juicy inside, perfect with the dipping sauce. The corn was a pleasant surprise; the crispy outer layer with added seasoning powder made it quite addictive, ideal for enjoying with a drink. The cucumber appetizer was refreshing, sprinkled with pepper and sesame seeds—the kind of dish you'd want to change things up with. The karaage chicken had a firm texture, not the soggy kind of fried chicken; it was savory and flavorful, and a touch of lemon made it even shinier. The drinks were simple and refreshing: the lemon soda was crisp, and the Japanese iced tea wasn't too sweet, pairing well with the fried food. Service was quite fast; although we were seated in the outdoor area, the food arrived steadily without a long wait. For a Clarke Quay location, the price was reasonable—not cheap, but the ingredients and portions were worth it. Overall, it was a relaxing meal, not complicated, and without any major disappointments. Ippudo continues to offer a consistent experience, suitable for when you want a good bowl of soup noodles but don't want to spend too much time choosing ingredients.

Serving is big (photo:food half eaten) and worth the price, the broth is thick and tasty, our kids love the pork belly chashu. Cozy ambiance.

Very little sense of customer service or flexibility. I don’t eat chashu and they could not offer egg or chicken instead because it’s ‘not customisable’. But it was very much customisable when I asked to NOT include chashu or paid extra to add an egg. I did not even come at rush hour - not sure what benefits the staff get from being so stubborn.

Place was really crowded here. I remember they used to toast the seaweed slightly back then? My seaweed was a tad too soggy for my liking but the broth was still pretty good. Chashu could use some work though
