The Deck (FASS) is usually the go-to for many because of the Yong Tau Foo or Japanese stalls, but the Muslim stall can be a bit of a gamble, especially when it comes to "canteen pricing." went for a Nasi Padang style selection: Basmati Rice: Definitely a step up from standard white rice, which likely contributed to that "pricey" feeling. Sambal Goreng: (Tempeh and long beans) A staple, though it can sometimes be too oily or dry if it’s been sitting out. Ikan Bilis with Peanuts: Looks well-caramelized, but at school prices, these "premium" sides add up fast. Curry Gravy (Kuah): Standard Curry gravy The "Tertiary Price" Reality In 2026, campus food prices have definitely crept up. While most stalls at The Deck aim for the $3.50–$5.50 range for a basic meal, a Nasi Padang set with Basmati and multiple dishes often hits the $4.00–$8.00 mark, which feels more like a food court price than a subsidized student meal. Verdict: A classic case of 'Campus Convenience' over 'Culinary Quality.' While the stall is conveniently located for those at FASS, the price point for a Nasi Padang-style meal here is disproportionate to the flavor provided. In a competitive environment like NUS, where high-quality gems like the Deck’s own Yong Tau Foo or the Science Frontier’s Indonesian stall exist, there is very little reason to return here.

Briyani set from indian stall. This is alright, but I prefer the one at frontier canteen. Muslim stall is not bad also.

For boomers post-grads, this Arts canteen had went through a MAJOR upgrading. Like the deck on a cruise ship, it is airy, bright, and plenty of seats to suit all purposes. But it is the range of food and their affordability. Mostly priced between $6 - $7 they presented good value for money given its location. The drink stall is notorious for charging an extra one-dollar for no-ice juices. Less ice is fifty cents extra. Not sure how ot works if BYOC. NUS condone this? See my photos. The Deck is also a great hideaway, the problem getting there. Parking is a major problem. The rewards, however, is worth the hassles.

Good food at reasonable prices. Ample seating. But parking is inconvenient. Gotta walk 200m up steep slope n stairs. At the moment, coffee stall has super 80cent discount if own cup/tumbler is used.
